Can you tell me which you belong to? If it's a union, which one and how do you like it? If it's a guild, how is that working out for you? Any specific info on SEIU would also be appreciated.

Teamsters, except for the administration looking down on anyone who shows interest in union matters it is working well for us.

Since I am management, I can not belong to the union we have in Iowa ..................AFSCME.

However many of our supervisory staff (including me) are former union officers. It seems that some of our former top level administrators figured out that people that became union stewards and E Board members were leaders. One of the old Associate Warden-Security promoted people he thought would be good supervisors/leaders even if they had a union background!

AFSCME is strong in Iowa and at my facility.

We have our own union in MI it is the Michigan Corrections Orginazation, but unfortunatly we are affiliated with the SEIU

We have our own, San Joaquin County Correctional Officers Association.

It works if the right people serve on the Board, otherwise it sucks.

Because I dont like my union dues going towards Obama and the democratic party.
