I'm in now as well and I can answer this.
Muster on the deck, did you have it today? If not, they will explain it to you in great extensive detail. But listen close sometimes its hard to hear them.
And I would suggest taking their advice. Study a lot, do the work, go to tutor (I know I am no matter what my average is), and be that bookworm for 6 months. Skip the parties the alcohol etc. It's a game, just play by the rules.

No book worming after the third trimester... which is the 3rd month. Everything from then on is smooth sailing.

So you're saying book work only during July, August, and September?
Also, how are all the other exams like CPR, EVOC, Firearms, etc?

well the 3rd tri might be in the 4th month but either way, just study your *** off for those first 3 tests. do go to tutoring and hope your OCI gives you a little bit of homework. you dont need to study for the 4th trimester but DO update your patrol guide, some kid in our class failed out of the academy due to the open book. it happens. the CRP exam is a joke, alot of people have trouble with the EVOC course. the hardest part about it is the backing up part. but if you dont pass no worries you have 2 years to pass it before you get fired :) and they have tutoring for that too on the weekends but they will let you know when. firearms is easy too, if your having problems shooting they will work with you one on one. just make sure you pick a firearm that feels good in your hand, dont listen to the guy next to you.
dont worry about academics, worry about staying out of trouble. if you dont have gym... bring your stuff anyways. put ur name on everything (not your socks or underware), make sure you look sharp, DO NOT TALK BACK OR ROLL YOUR EYES, do not be late, do your HW and follow directions. play the game

What do you mean by update your patrol guide? Do you we add our own little notes to it or are there sections we'll be adding into it?

your going to get a patrol guide. and every 3 months or so they will hand out updates or something will change. make sure you update it. also every now and they you will have to bring in a few pages, just be sure to put them back, and get a binder or two to keep in order
