NYS Division of Parole - Any hiring updates?

I took the Parole Officer exam in March 2008. I received a canvas packet in January 2009, which I had to return. I have called human resources a few times over the past 6 months (most recently in June), but no one can ever give an update on hiring (which I guess makes sense since the state's finances are a mess). I was wondering if any folks on the forum have any inside info on hiring that they would be willing to share. Thanks in advance!

Dude we are on the same boat I also took that exam and I haven't heard a thing since I mailed back the questioner

When I called in June, personnel said that lots of people had been calling, but they did not know when hiring would begin. I did mention that I was interested in working in the 5 boroughs, and personnel implied that this may benefit me (I guess most folks don't want to work in the city?). Where are you interested in working?

If you're into numbers, here's Parole's most recent budget - http://publications.budget.state.ny.us/eBudget0910/agencyPresentations/pdf/parole.pdf. There are enough cuts that it doesn't surprise me they are not hiring at this time.

I've called several times myself and they told me that they are still on a hiring freeze. They stated that they are not sure when they will hire again.

Did you guys take the Parole Officer or Parole Officer traniee exam?

You're welcome. I took the Parole Officer Traniee exam because I did not have 3 years of case work expereince. I scored an 80 on the exam. What was your score?
