Giving everyone a heads up. DCAS updated there system on August 31st. Mine changed from "You are on an outstanding certification" to "You are not on any outstanding certification. But I still remain "Active" on the other automated number.

Just called the number and it worked fine for me. was able to get all the info available for my exam.
Walk in exam # 7043 was established on December 27, 2007. Will expire December 27, 2011. and has 274 eligible people on it.

When the system doesn't have a record of you taking an exam, can that mean that the list from the exam you took just hasn't been made yet?
I took the walk-in exam in August (#0123). Might it be too soon to expect a list?

That list makes me cry...6093 is so far off...
Anywho, I also called DCAS and they also said I am not on the list for any outstanding cirtification or words to that effect...Anyone have any idea what that means?

Just a heads up on DCAS automated line. DCAS updated there system on Nov. 1st. I'm back on your on "outstanding certification", but back late August I was not on outstanding certification. Don't know what to think anymore.
This is from another member that spoke to someone about outstanding certification.
thats also probably the best explanation ive heard so far.
basically, what i was told by DCAS when i asked them (it took me 5 people to find one who actually knew what it meant) is that "you are/are not on outstanding cert" isnt a good or bad thing - its merely a filing/hiring term for your 'status'
it simply means that if the nypd has made their way up to your exam and are considering it for the next round of hiring then you will be "on an outstanding cert". if they have not made it up to your exam # for hiring then it will say "you are currently not on an outstanding cert"

I would defenantly take another exam with that score. Its not undesirable, its just that it will take a longer time to get called from.
If there are 4000 people who took the exam with you, imagine how many of them are ahead of you, plus the other people with higher scores from other exams.

he could, but his next score puts him behind his first score anyway. Taking another exam wouldn't help him get called any earlier, it would just extend his eligibility

first they sort it by date...earliest one's have more seniority
then they sort by score...highest scores have more seniority
Ex: If I took the exam today and passed with the minimum of a 70, and you took it tomorrow and score 100...I would be hired before you technically.
list numbers are basically irrelevant, but a good indicator.....but exam date is the best indicator.

I tried looking around the forums but does anyone here know what the procedure is if you fail the Ishihara color vision test. Does anyone know what test the NYPD uses as an appeal test?
When I had my medical back in 2006, they showed me the Ishihara book and I didn't even know what I was looking for. Needless to say, I didn't pass it. They had me go take another test in a side room where you have to line up these balls or discs according to the shades (ex. light green progressing to dark green). I believe it's called the Farnsworth Test. I was able to pass that and move on.
