Do any of you ever tire of innocuous questions that have absolutely nothing to do with this profession?

Seems to be a plethera of morbidly inept individuals who have no one to talk to, ask questions of, don't know how to use search features and fail to read an entire thread before they put words down to show their failings.

I know it is not just me who supposes this. I have been contacted by others on these forums who feel the same way; and, it is difficult to screen an inquiry without reading it and then your life is shortened because of wasted offerings.

Oh, well! Guess I will just have to coddle them and hope they get some good advice from everyone who addresses their quests.

Off my soapbox.................

Sometimes its amusing in a pedantic sort of way.

Somewhat annoyed at times in the waste of my time reading through the drivel.

Mostly wishing this forum was open only to confirmed police!

What should be posted at the top of the "Ask a Cop" forum should be "If you are complaining about some wrong, real or perceived, that was perpetuated on you by a Police Officer, and are looking for others in agreement,or a sympathetic ear, go somewhere else."

You will be banned for any discussion of a traffic citation you received.

LOL Sgt, some of the stupidest are the ones that want to argue with your answer.....................or split hairs........or vociferate about how it should be

Not too many serious ones I will address, not worthy of my keystrokes. Idiots however are always fun to prod.

Maybe I am part of the problem but I don’t see those things as being a big deal. My very low post count might make you think I haven’t been here very long but I have actually been posting on this site for a longer than almost anybody here. I know all the old and new again arguments. I see the new people come here and make the mistake of asking the same questions that were asked a year or so before and someone always yells at them to do a search and read all the old posts. But then the other new guys start replying and the old arguments start again with new names but the same opinions. In the end I don’t get too upset about that.

I also don’t always read all the posts, when I start on a thread and it has 35 pages of posts mostly childish name-calling I do not bother to read them all.

I do get bothered by how quickly some topics turn to personal insults and I get very tired of people who cannot debate an opinion articulately so they inevitably go for the nuke argument of "Well if you feel that way then you must be a terrible cop." I don’t think any of us are so skilled a psychologist that we can learn all about a person from their posts. I will insult an opinion but not the person offering it, of course that can lead to defensive behavior and the person I debate has to start insulting me since my opinions are sound. In the end its is about winning the argument rather than actually being right.

I am annoyed that good debate seems rare, its all just insults, no new info. for example I thought we had a good one going once on cop OMG's, someone said that the 3 piece patch predated OMG's and that was an important point, so I kept looking for more info, but then the unsulters had to start on both sides and the thread gets banned.

If someone wants to ask questions about innoculations here I think they should. Wait, what?

I dunno. I try to give folks the benefit of the doubt and give a real answer, even if just in case Google directs a 3rd party to the post. Some posts I just skip over automatically, though. Its the beauty of an idiot on the 'net instead of an idiot in front of you.

Yeah, I've noticed it too. I also realize that some of my replies reflect my feeling of how stupid the poster or the question actually is. In some ways though, it keeps the site interesting. It also reminds me that job security is one of the perks in our profession.
