My duty weaponis a Colt 1911.
Currently I am using a level I type holster of my own design similar to the Top gun 200 Safariland.
I have recently ordered the level II Safariland SLS holster. Even though I have already ordered it I was curious as to any officers experience with the holster. Is it a good choice ? Would I have been better off with the 070 level III ?
Any and all opinions are appreciated.

I carry the 070 and loved it. As long as it is available for whatever duty weapon I'm carrying, it is what I'll use.

Last night my levelII came in. NICE!! the hood has a thumb tab on the side of the hood and you push down and rotate foreward. Then draw. The tab is in the same position as the thumb break on a level I holster so training myself will be minimal. There is an adapter that can be ordered that turns the holster into a level III. I need to speak with safrailand about that item.

Hi, Mark. Welcome to this board. If you've read my posts at the other place, you know I dearly love my SSIII. This is even after carrying a BHP in a Ted Blocker security rig. But, the SLS is nice, too. Different strokes.

I finally convinced our agency to go to the SLS holster. Mine also has the hood guard. It's the best holster, IMO. Great retention qualities, yet fast for the trained officer.
