Any opinions on the Ultra Stinger? One of our corporals just got one. I'm very impressed. Anyone carrying one? Be safe.

Great light. I have one. A little larger than I like for belt carry. The only down side is that there no fast charger. It takes 10 hours to charge the battery. I have a spare battery for mine. The quality of the light beam on mine approaches that of a surefire light.

I've been shopping for a small "tactical" light myself. Everyone raves about the stinger line.I believe I have found a better light in the Sure-Fire Commander. The beam is superior without the black ring effect found with the Stingers. I tried one at a gun show yesterday and am impressed. $115 with two chargers. Not a lot more than the Stinger. This light is worth a look.

Mack,
The Ultra Stinger is not a tactical light. I have a Surefire G-2 and 8NX commander
The Ultra Stinger should be thought of as the Boom Box of flashlights.
It is 5 times brighter than the Standard stinger or Surefire 8NX. It is twice the output of the Streamlight SL-20
It has a superb beam with virtually no black out center . It is not a light to hang on your belt it is too large. It is a great light for those traffic stops where the vehicle has a tinted window as it will blast through just about any type of tint. It is great for illuminating those long distances that your smaller light will not. It will blast through most foliage and gives a HUGE central beam of light. At 20 yds it will illuminate a single garage door completely.
I agree with you about the standard Stinger line, the surefire is a better light. Streamlight got thing right on the Ultra, the only other light out there that matches it would be the Surefire 10X and that light is around $225.00 at the least expensive.

Thanks Mark, I guess I got my lights mixed up. Too many choices out there now. Back in the SP days we carried Kel-Lites. Now I have a large Mag-Light that I use at night but am looking for a small light to have on the belt at all times.Never know when you are going to be in a dark building in the middle of the day. As a fellow reserve you know how it is going out of pocket, looking for the most bang for the buck.

I just received my ultra stinger and I am dissappointed. I have a Pelican products M11 that is rated at 40,000 CP and it is just as bright as the supposed 75,000cp ultrastinger.
the only difference I saw was in extreme range the ultrastinger seemed to be a little brighter(not by much)`

I'd sure like to get an Ultra Stinger, but I'm awfully cheap - I just saw it in our canteen at $157.95 (Canadian). I like that it comes with both the AC & car lighter cords and 2 charging hooks, which I noticed are the same charging hooks for all Stinger models.
