View Full Version : Strobes
For traffic safety assisting with wrecks I MIGHT add a set of strobes to the reverse lights (so the emergency flashers still show) and the front turn signals if I get my new ride (Tahoe). Can anyone recommned a company whose strobes work well? I am going to get blue so I want something that will not wash out...I have seen Whelens and wasn't impressed...I am interested in SVPs but after our experience with the durabilty of their Impulse bars I am hesitent, although the strobes are very nice...and last Tomar...I love the neobe strobe but I do not know if it would work as well in a hidden configuration...any imput would be welcomed.

You weren't impressed with Whelen? It might have been the power supply. We have a dealer here that a lot of us go to to add lights and they work real good. The popular one is the 6 way 90 watt unit. The hidden strobes go in the taillights, back up lights and front corners. The back up lights on the new Ford are excellent for them!
If you're allowed to use amber in your color combo, try some deck lights with amber and your primary color.

Hi there! I deal in emergency equipment, especially lights. From my experience, the 2 companies to go with are whelen and Nova. If you didnt like whelen, defineately go with the Nova Superpak! They are awesome. If your looking used, let me know, and I can point you in the right direction, I can also do that with new, as I have some discount guys. Anyone that has any other lighting questions, feel free to email me or visit my webpage at www.hometown.aol.com/matthewmints (http://www.hometown.aol.com/matthewmints)

Avoid SVP like the plague. Every item we've bought from them was perpetually breaking down.

we use the vector halogen with strobed corners and flashback reverse lights, halogen deck and grill lights, we are an acredidated agency so all cars have to be the same. but i saw a troop last week with led arrow stick with blue multi pattern flash leds. I know they are expensive but they look much better than strobes (not as violent of flash) and as visable or more visable.

I have 2(two) Whelen 1 million CP blue strobes on the rear deck of my 2000 Ford Crown Vic. I also run 4-corner strobes (whelen) with a 90 watt power supply. I have had no problems with any of my lights

The brighteset strobes I have seen are made by TOMAR Called Neobe. I have had people complain that they hurt their eyes and want me to turn thn off.
Yeah, I love the Neobe system, as seen on their bar at Tomar.com, they have a replaying flash thing of the bar on... http://www.tomar.com/products/sectionf/p048.htm I love the flash, but didn't and still don't know if their "hidden strobes" retain the same flash effect.
