i applied to the SUNY stony brook upd but have not taken the Civil Service exam.

Any info on this exam?

You must take the test and be reachable on the list to be hired as a SUNY Police Officer.

The test will be administered again in 2010, until you take and pass the test, you cannot apply for the Stonybrook university position. I spoke to the HR dept. and that's what they told me. I guess they run each one independently. When the test is available, it will be found on the NYS civil service website.

There are 27 SUNY campuses. You take either the upstate test or downstate test or both and then indicate your preference as to region. When a school within a region you selected has a spot they will canvass you. Thus starts the process. There is a fairly new list out there right now. If you're interested I would suggest signing up for e-mail updates of exams from NYS Civil Service.

The civil service test is listed as New York State University Police, and will be open sometime in the near future, you can only apply to the current Stony Brook Job posting if you are currently on the active list (which means you would have been canvassed) or are currently a NYS University Police Officer seeking a transfer.

Tentatively the next UP exam will be nov 14 2009, look for it to be announced in aug
