A friend of mine had an appointment today to examine the LAUSD's collection of ancient antiquities. He didn't realize when he went to the appointment that the collection is housed at the LAUSD School Police headquarters. Who would have known that LAUSD would have a collection of 30,000 artifacts and art works and that it would be housed in the police building.

He said that they had a lot of different things: there's an antiquities collection that used to belong to Venice HS. That includes Mesopotamian tablets, Etruscan and Roman tools, Roman coins, jewelry, Greek pots, and a few Egyptian things. The collection also has rare books, photographs and photography equipment, and paintings that came from various LAUSD high schools.
It's on the second floor directly opposite the women's locker room.

My friend says that a lot of the stuff is stored in boxes, but you can get a feel for what's there by visiting. They also have binders that show everything in the collection. He said it was cool just looking around.
What's up with the lights in the hall ways? He said that there weren't a lot of lights on in the building. My friend was told that maybe it was because the school district is broke.
