Hi All,
I recently have exhausted my opportunities in NYS, noone is hiring and I'm getting to the point where I'm willing to relocate. Civil Service is a joke. Is anyone aware of any good departments looking for officers? Also looking at Sheriff's departments.
I'm 25 passed the PAT for the local squad but they aren't hiring anyone who is not a resident of the city. (I'm just outside).
Great driving record, college degree. I'm just trying to pursue my dream to be an officer and get out from behind this desk!
Thanks guys and stay safe.

Come to MD/DC area, plenty of good options.
City - MPDC and Baltimore City...tons of action.
County - Harford, Baltimore, PG, Montgomery, and many more...all excellent.
State - www.mdsp.org , very high speed agency.
Feds Police - USSS-UD, USCP, Pentagon Force, and tons more.
Fed Agent - USSS, ATF, FBI...unless you have previous experience or special skill I would start at the 0083 level, going 1811 is hard.
Good luck in your search, life down here is pretty good and the weather is much better than Upstate. The pay is not greatest down here but if you are a worker, you will be OK.

City of Baton Rouge, Louisiana East Baton Rouge Sheriff, Louisiana
New Orleans, Louisiana as well as numerous others. However I believe these places would be a culture shock to you.

Thanks for the info, ill check them out. Lots of fed positions there. I would definitely want to do uniform patrol for awhile before I moved into a fed position.

What do you mean by culture shock? City life?

Ah ok.
I will think about it.
Ok thank you.
It's very frustrating when something is just out of your grasp and you have worked so hard to obtain it. I'm determined that law enforcement is in my future.

It is frustrating.
You're not the only one out there. I'm putting myself through the academy in September and I'm not sure I'll be able to get a job afterwards!
Ah ok.

Yeah, its pretty tough here in Florida... I left patrol a few years ago and will graduate with my law degree in December... Attorney jobs are few and far between so I may be back out on the road soon.....
