... Wife is bugging me to go to California.
My glock never leaves my hip..... my question is this. With the mag capacity laws out there, am I going to run into trouble if I have a 13 round mag in my 23? I really would hate to have to buy 2 10 round mags for the trip.
If you qualify under LEOSA to carry, you don't have anything to worry about. As a matter of fact, there is no way to tell if a magazine is new or was purchased pre-ban, making enforcement impossible even for California residents who are not covered under LEOSA and cannot normally carry CCW.

^^what he said^^
It's not illegal to posses high cap mags in handguns assuming there are no other weapons violations. It's illegal to manufacture or sell them to non LEOs here.

Disneyland's great, one of my favorite places to go in socal, there's nothing "ugh" about it. You don't get the gangsters going there like you do at six flags.

I've lived in Calif. for 60 years, 30 minutes from Disneyland and I have never been there....

Disneyland will try to keep you from taking your weapon into the park. That is, if you tell them you have it. A fanny pack is a big tip off, but if you have it concealed well enough, no one will ever know.

Thank GAWD Six Flags filed for BK today. Maybe Gangsta Mountain will go away now.
D-Land is cool, but WAAYYYYY expensive. You can't carry in there, but what they don't know won't hurt them....:D
Is magic mountain that bad? If you go on the weekdays is it less ghetto or is it 24/7 ghetto?

Disneyland is too expensive, besides I got there pretty much every day for work.
I just got done doing the construction finish work in the changing rooms at California adventure.

I carried in DL everyday that I was there, and I was there about two months ago. The fam and I had a blast. They don't pat you down, they just look through your belongings.

But in all honesty, Disneyland is one of the places I really don't feel the desire to carry. Climbing in and out of the rides- many designed for kids and hanging upside down on other rides just makes me uncomfortable. The last thing I need is to have my roscoe go "klunk" onto the ground below when I am on a roller coaster.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on who you are...), the BK will really have no effect on the park operations for now. They'll continue to operate.

True, but nothing a good and well built ankle holster can't take care of.;)

1. I don't carry anything in an ankle holster.
2. I don't carry anything small enough to fit in an ankle holster.
Typically, I carry either a .45 or .40 Glock in an IWB Holster. Since my last OIS off-duty, I have personally made a decision to carry nothing less than .4x caliber and nothing with 5 or 6 rounds only. One of the lessons I learned in my off-duty OIS is that the gun must be accessible and I can't bend over and hop on one leg to retrieve a gun from an ankle holster on a good day. :D

Weenie...
I've been there a few times and if you will have fun if you do it right. Normally I go in the first or second week of March but we went to Disney World instead. My wife and I are going to Disneyland the end of next week. This time without my kids.:D

It is pretty spendy but I also don't live in California so I can afford to vacation there.

I love my Ruger LCP, 7 round 380, fits in the pocket, you forget its there. Perfectly secure.
If you go to D-land dont forget to at least walk into the lobby of the Grand Californian, very cool. Hopefully you arent hoping to do it on the cheep. Cuz that dont happen inthe House of Mouse. But if you come prepared to spend the cash a good time can be had. Plan to drive the coast or something on the weekends, do D-land midweek.

My lower back can't take any more abuse... I'm old. :D
I carry my .40 S&W Glock Model 27 in my front uniform pocket in a Desantis Nemesis Holster.
I swore off of anything less than a .40 or a .45. I was involved in an off-duty OIS against multiple assailants in a take over robbery. I happened to be carrying a 9mm subcompact that day. A bullet struck the closest suspect about 15 feet away. The impact did not stop the suspect and in fact, he raised his weapon a second time, and I fired three additional rounds. The end result was that this suspect ran away carrying my bullet and was not captured until some time later. An examination of the bullet revealed the Ranger SXT did not expand well. Our firearms experts determined that bullets fired from my subcompact 9mm with short barrel did not expand fully upon impact. So much for me ever trusting my 9mm subcompact again.

Last time I was in Cali was about 10 years ago on a road trip with a buddy to Jason Racing to get some work done on a car. We stayed in the "easy 8" or maybe it was the "sleazy 8" or something like that, just off of the highway, south of LA... don't know how far south, was going on 48 hours of no sleep after working on the car in the shop.
Was around the time when Cali was having the problems with rolling blackouts. Fell asleep around 2 am.... at 4am I hear a fire alarm. I called the front desk and asked them what the hell was going on, they told me "the blackouts are screwing with our alarm system"
Made sense to me, so I went back to sleep ... sleeping through the fire alarm for 45 min
Woke back up, looked outside and saw the place surrounded by firetrucks. They neglected to evacuate our 2nd floor room....
I was beyond ****ed, got my $30 back (#1 sign that your in a bad hotel... the room was $30 in Cali) and left. Drove home and didn't stop for anything except gas.
I don't know if I can forgive Cali for this.... unfortunately the wife is pulling rank

Windex,
DL is very expensive. More so than perhaps you remember. But, if she hasn't been I think you should take her. How long you gonna be in town? What else is on the itinerary?

Not 100% sure when it's going to happen.... right now there is a blackout on vacation, we have 3 people per squad of 8..... to say we are understaffed would be an understatement.
Dept had a brilliant idea 5 years ago for the retirement program. People would retire, keep their insurance for life and stop paying into pension for 5 years. The people would continue to work for 5 years collecting a paycheck, however during those 5 years their pension would pay out into a high-yeild bank account that they could tap into once they were done. Worked great for keeping tenured officers in the field for 5 extra years.... what they didn't anticipate was how many people would sign up for the program. We can't hire and train officers fast enough to replace the retiring officers.
.....end of rant.
Hope to be able to take her within the next 6 months when she has a break from school. Gotta give her props for working full time and going back to school..... I wouldn't do that :D
Would probably be a week-long vacation...... Not sure where else I want to go, she does want to see Alcatraz as well. Just what I want to do on vacation, go to jail

I'm sorry, but you paid $30 for a hotel room in SoCal, and you're complaining about the quality and location of said hotel? You get what you pay for Windex...doesn't matter if it's in LA County or in Knob Noster, MO. A fleabag hotel is a fleabag hotel...doesn't matter where it's located. Sorry brother, but you brought that one all upon yourself...the state of California isn't to blame.
Next time, spend a few more dollars and sleep peacefully at a decent hotel away from the hood. There are plenty to choose from anywhere in California.

Oh, I know it's not Cali's fault that the hotel caught fire, or the fact that it was a crap-hole hotel. It was just the perfect end to a craptacular road trip.

A happy wife is a happy life....Disneyland is great, but it is a bit expensive.
I remember reading some where on O.com about terrorist planning an attack on amusement parks, none the less conceal your OD weapon well and you should have no problem.
The Red Lion Hotel was nice, if you dont want to stay for the fireworks you could catch it from your room depending on what floor youre on
