Most of the local city/county agencies are hiring and will send you to an academy class for your BLET while paying you. This is a good way to get some experience while waiting for a federal 1811 position to open. If you have the GI Bill you can use it while in the academy at the local agencies and get extra money while getting paid by the local agency. NC is also hiring for Troopers and Alcohol Law Enforcement. The DOD police at Ft Bragg and Cherry Point were looking for patrol officers.

no im in charleston sc....
I heard myrtle beach was hiring. Charleston is usually hiring as well. Going to ICE as a IEA in this economy might not be a bad move but it takes a while to get hired with any federal agency. Check out Fayetteville PD in NC. Always hiring and you get a lot of experience due to the crime rate. They don't call it fatalville for nothing.

If the OP would check the NC threads, there is a Fayetteville PD Recruiter floating around here.....and he seems to always be out and about recruitering for their agency.....

I know many community colleges are graduating more people than there are jobs. Raleigh is hiring. NCSHP won't until 2010. Do BLET in NC as opposed to SC if u want to work here. YOU have to jump thru manny more hopes transferring certs into NC.

I am looking at a couple of agencies around Raleigh that are hiring. I'm gonna try to get into the BLET class in January if nothing else. Any officers from the Raleigh area PM me...

Fayetteville is pushing to get new officers now and the pay is getting better. I know that I enjoy working here(Fayetteville) and after hearing stories from others I am glad to be with this department. The police here are getting their raises while many agencies here(in NC) are not, and if you want action this is a town to get experience. Finally, the city has changed a great deal over the last 15 years, and it is not the same place as many of you may remember.

That's subjective. I spent 15 years there and loved it. DC is a dump. NO is a dump. Memphis is a dump....To me. To others, its home.

You have got a point. I lived there in the early 90s when crack was big. A lot of murders back then and Hay St was a wild place for a 18 year old boy to go to. I had a blast at Ricks lounge and the korean bar. The PD is now located were Rick's use to be. Hay St has changed for the better but bragg blvd and the Merk are still rough places. Overall the place is much better than it was back then, but its still rough. Cumberland county has more men on death row in CP than any other county in the state for a reason.
