License Plate Tag Question

What's the fine for not having a license plate tag on your plate ? And do I have to file a stolen property report with the P.D ?

There has been a string of license plate sticker thefts (including mine) near my work (Pico/Union). One guy had to replace his tags twice in one week !
The thing that got me was the fact that I cut the sticker after putting it on !

With that going on, I'm seriously thinking of just not replacing them. I know that if my plates get checked they will be current....

Never mind I got my self excited for a minute... Its 496! over a hundred dollars more then last year.

Gonzo1510, the violation is 5204(a) - Expired Month/Year tab and it's a correctable (aka fix-it ticket) violation. If you are cited, it should only cost you the $10 processing fee (depending on the issuing agency and/or courts).

On a side note, just paid the registration on my 07' pick-up and it went from $200 last year to $369 for 2010! Damn! Damn! Damn! I have a feeling we are going to see a lot more 4000(a)'s and 4462.5's now...

I've seen a lot of tags being taken lately. People can't afford registration. I can tell you that I love writing tickets for having tabs on a vehicle that doesn't belong to that vehicle. It makes me smile!

Writing tickets? It's better when you are hooking the car up to the tow truck. You are towing them also right?

After I put a sticker on a plate I take a razor blade to it and slice it all over so they cannot easily take it off. Just a thought for next time.

Add 496 pc and pit the fool if he's a real tool. If you are working days and dispatch can get through to DMV, they can run the number, give you the RO name...get ahold of them and confirm they are stolen and you are golden for a 10-16.

Of all the cars to hit up, they pick on a 2002 Ford Focus... Really ?! There were cars with '22's and other seriously expensive rims and they hit up my stock POS car...

I got a cite for 5204(a) CVC when I was younger and the Chippy made it correctable so I paid $10 for the court fee. Then of corse the next day Redding Police Dept stopped me and wrote me for 4000(a) CVC because, in her words, "CHP doesn't know what they are doing." Even though my reg was pain and I was waiting for the tabs in the mail.
