I am trying to find some info about, a person going from one FED LEO position to same with another agency. Say you get an EOD date with the new agency but you are currently at the one you work. Do you want to work all the way to the end (friday etc) before starting Monday with the new agency. Or can you take more time off.

from DOJ website
"Break-in-service means the time when an employee is no longer on the payroll of an agency. (In computing creditable service for benefits, e.g., leave accrual and reduction-in-force retention, a separation of 1, 2, or 3 calendar days is not considered to be a break in service; a separation of 4 or more calendar days is considered to be a break in service and the days of separation are subtracted from the employee's total creditable service.) [HRO Part 1, Chapter 4, "Effective Date of New Appointments"]

Any views on the issue would help.

thanks

Well I went from one agency to another, and if you need time off I suggest you take it at your current job, like on your last day take 2weeks of then start with your new agency. But I went from one to the other left on wed took thurs and fri off. My off day was saturday n Sunday. Started on there payroll on Sun, in the office by Monday.

If you are transfering from one Federal Agency to another, first off the directive is from OPM, not from the DOJ website.

If you want time off, take it at your current agency. Or with your new one, after you EOD and do some type of orientation. Most federal agencies give some employees admin leave, etc if you have to move.

Pay periods tend to end on a sat and the new one starts on that sunday. So technically you will end your employement with your current agency on that sat and sun will be on the payroll with the new agency.
