Diffence in vest brands

I am looking at purchasing a vest. There are so many different brands available and the price range is from one end of the spectrum to the other. I understand the difference between threat levels, but is there really a difference in the brand? Just looking through the Galls magazine for example they have a Galls Lite Body Armor Extended Coverage Level II vest (2.89 lbs) for $269.99. Safariland Magnum Lite has a Level II vest (2.89 lbs.) for $369.99. Is there really a difference??

After reading the earlier post about vests it sounds like Galls brand vest are made by Safariland so I am assuming then that the brand isn't that important and you are maybe paying for the name?????

Any help, advice, or opinions would be great.
