I am looking for Sworn Officer/Civilian Employee Votes here. I need the data for R&D.
If you guys would do me the favor and just please just list the STATE you work in. Not the Specific Department!.
Appreciate it guys.

Texas, no art work showing. Under the uniform is ok. Not really enforced too strictly. Officers are meant to wear long sleeves if they have tats on the forearms but dang it gets hot and humid here. Also they just put this policy into place 2 years ago. And they didn’t grandfather anyone in.

CA, and if there's a tattoo policy in place, then it's going to be enforced. Someone will always be there to quote policy.

One of my close close relatives works in the OC and his agency doesn't enforce the policy. One officer who is a new guys follows the long but the other is a veteran officer who doesn't bother with the policy and no one says any thing. Thanks for the imput. keep it coming.

Yeah, we enforce it. Along with the mustache not passing the lip corner thing. I guess it's a professional appearance. But if my gut hung down to my knees, I'd be fine. Go figure.
Cannot be visible on duty with my agency.

Very large CA agency
Policy is very heavily enforced in most duty stations. Directives from management are sent out to supervisors to constantly check subordinates for violations of the policy.
To say that the boss doesnt like ink is an understatement.

FED Agency, in CA for me, and nationally. No policy.
Local PD headed to in TX's policy says no offensive tattoos can be visable. Thats it.

Medium CA agency. Tat's must be covered up. Wasn't strictly enforced until recently.
Formerly with a small agency in E. Los Angeles
Tattoos, Handlebar mustaches, shaved heads, were highly ENCOURAGED.
(I'm not even joking)

Whats wrong with a shaved head? I have a shaved head.
absolutely nothing.. but when EVERY officer shaves his head because no one wants to be different from the other officer.. there's something weird and "cult-like" about that- especially when not in an academy setting. (the dept. has since stopped the "everyone shave their head" practice and allows officers to maintain a professional grooming standard)
..there's nothing wrong with not having a shaved head either.
