The Culver City Police Officers' Assn is hosting a benefit shoot to help out the widow and children of Sgt. Curt Massey, who was killed in a recent traffic collision. This is a "falling plate" type pistol match that's open to LE and civilians and all proceeds will go to the fallen officer's family. The event is being held on Sunday, July 19th, 2009, at the Angeles Shooting Range (in Little Tujunga Canyon-Lakeview Terrace).

A real simple and fun match, that consists of six shots fired at six metal plates from 10 yards, three times (per entry). The highest two runs (shortest times) will determine your score. You may enter three times, for $20.00 each. (Total of 54 rounds needed.)

Lots of neat prizes and raffle items (including some firearms), and each entry earns a free raffle ticket. Should be a lot of fun and it's going to a good cause. It would be neat to meet up with some other O.com members there!
Additional details and on-line registration are here: www.masseyshoot.org

Lt. Massey (he was posthumously promoted) was a incredible person and LEO. You would be doing his family and his department a great service by participating in the shoot.

I hope the lack of responses doesn't indicate a lack of interest! In addition to being fun, this kind of thing benefits the family directly and provides support beyond showing up on the day of the funeral. Even if you're not interested in shooting, raffle tickets can be bought on line. ;)

I would like to go to this to support the family, but my wife is about due on that day. I hope a lot of people make it out.
