Really not much in the news, other than an officer blasted a suspect. It's unusual to see such a short news clip.
Garden Grove police officer fatally shoots man
8:21 AM | June 1, 2009
A Garden Grove police officer shot and killed a man during a traffic stop Sunday night, authorities said.
A patrol officer made a traffic stop near the intersection of Galway Street and Trask Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. About 15 minutes later, the passenger, a man in his mid 30s, was killed by an officer, Lt. Travis Whitman, a spokesman for the department, said in a statement.
No officers were seriously injured in the incident, Whitman said. The Orange County district attorney’s office is investigating the shooting. No further details were available this morning.

The word I have (which could easily be wrong) is that the Officer ended up in a fight over his duty weapon....managed to gain control of his weapon, and blasted the suspect......

Good for the officer!! I'm glad he went home at EOW.
On a side note, I just moved from there to my current res about 5 years ago...it was getting pretty bad back then.

Did he use a Krav Maga technique? Glad it worked out for the officer. Saved taxpayer dollars.

According to wits we came scary close to losing yet another officer in the line of duty.
Good thing to remember that any night you go to work is the night you could find yourself in a fight for your life. I have not spoken to the officer but I'd bet he thought it was just another day at work and just another traffic stop.
