Overseas contractor to train host-government security/law enforcement. They also have some contracts for protection missions akin to Triple Canopy, Dyncorp and Xe...but much smaller and probably not for DOD or DOS.

The USG contracts out training of foriegn government law enforcement/security personnel. For instance in Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Haiti, etc. where other countries send their national police to do this, DOJ and DOS contract it out and the contractor goes looking for retired/LWOP cops to do the work for the US.

From my experience, you are not under diplomatic cover and aren't usually privy to the resources of the U.S. Embassy (security, medical, etc.). But, I imagine there are plenty of local deals going on where the contractor can get medical help from US military forces in the region.

If you are interested in living overseas and can hack living on the local economy (and probably being tax free up to $85K), it may be the job for you. Just be warry of what kinda support you are going to get from your employer. Living on an Afghan National Police (ANP) compound with no running water and eating raw lamb ain't very fun.
