Hey all,
I recently applied to the NSA and CIA Police (Security Protective Services) positions but never recv'd anything saying whether they recv'd them or not. Anyone else have this problem?

Also anyone on this board work for either agency as Police?

Thanks!

Why in the world would you leave local LE to work for "protective" services for the govt? The paycheck might look good, but you will quickly see how bored you get.

If you are looking in to a good govt gig, go 1811 or at least got 1801 with ICE. I have known plenty of close friends who went to both NSA and CIA and quickly went back to their former jobs.

Govt jobs to apply take time and patience. Best thing you can do is call their recruitment or HR.

The main reason is I don't have anywhere NEAR a degree for 1801 or 1811 jobs and none of the other jobs ever got back to me after I applied, Im just bitter. lol (FAMS, DEA, ICE).

And you do not need a degree for an 1811 or 1801 slots.

Hmmm, curious why I havent heard back then. Yea, I put in for USSS, DEA, ICE, and FAMS. USSS outright told me I didnt meet the qualifications.

Ideally, I would love to have a gig like the guys on the show Jacked!

You should be ok w/ USSS-UD and they will help pay for BA/BS.

Then you can jump 1811.

Did you look at the jobs quals before you applied? And with ICE, did you apply for IEA or OI. OI you don't apply for, there are ways you get in contact with a recruiter, etc.

Get some more local time and then you will definately have some experience, but realize most 1811 gigs are not all kicking down doors. It's a lot of sitting at a desk.

I can live with that. I'm not total gung-ho Alpha Male type anyway. Most of my prev. jobs were office work. lol

For ICE I applied as IEA.

Thanks for the info! I was beginning to think I'm not hireable outside the agency I work for now.

I was hired on and worked with FAMS and currently work for USMS all without a degree.

If you want that you should work for a big city PD and try to become a detective. There are probably some 1811 jobs that run and gun like that show but most do not.

I know Baltimore City RATT here does, but I'd have to go back as the Low Man on the totem pole, plus theres no guarantee I'd get it.

ICE just sent me 2 emails saying I am not in the areas considered for hiring...I am CLOSE to Fairfax, VA, but not close enough, apparantly. So that means no hiring for me.

Where you currently reside means nothing. If you want the job, apply everywhere and take it and then transfer later on.

Disregard. I read the email wrong. Its because I am not a current Fed employee (Merit Status).

Gotcha. Yea, the only announcements you can apply to are Public.
