Im looking at getting a new flashlight for my duty belt. I currently carry a Sure Fire 6R but have been having a lot of problems with it. Ive been looking at a Stinger for a replacement. What does everyone else carry?

I upgraded to the 8X from the 6R. I haven't had problems with either one. If I carried a belt light as my primary flashlight, I'd probably go with the Stinger due to the convenience of the on/off switch. That's makes it a lot more practical for car/pedestrian stops when you may need to quickly tuck the lighted flashlight under an arm.

If you do decide on the Stinger, you may want to avoid the Polystinger with the rubber sleeve. That tends to bind up on leather holsters. Be safe.

I've always preferred a full size metal flashlight (I have both the Streamlight and Magcharger - I recommend both). Our department trains and authorizes officers in the use of the flashlight as an alternate impact weapon.

I'm out of uniform now but I used to carry my light in a ridgid full size OC carrier which had its bottom cut out. The flashlight sits up and cants forward on my left side behind my baton and in front of my portable. Of course I'm a big kid so I have lots of belt space for toys.

I carry the Streamlite Scorpian. I like it because it has a rubber grip. It works like a champ. Never had problems with it. I also carry a 4D cell maglite. Two is always great to have along with one in the trunk
