I know if you sell any drugs it is an automatic DQ but i just thought of something and its really bugging me, when i was in 6th or 7th grade i sold like half a joint to my friend it was stupid and this is the only time ive ever sold drugs i know this might be a dumb question but will this hurt me still if i explain how young i was? And also about the drug use the 8-10 times i used weed only 2 were in high school the rest being in middle school?

How old are you?
If you're 18 and straight out of high school, you'll probably have to get out and work in a professional career for a while, and put some time between your usage/sale and your application. If you're in your late 20's or older, have worked a professional job, and have other mitigating factors in your resume, you may a shot.
Can't speak for every department, as all have their own hiring policies, but if there is time between these events and now, and marijuana is the only illegal drug you've used, you might still have a shot.

i am 18 and they are just accepting pre applications right now the next civil service exam isnt until next spring and i guess the polygraph test will be sometime after that, will they even count that as selling or hold it against me? i was in 6th or 7th grade when i did that and it was worth like 3 bucks just being a dumb kid and since middle school ive only smoked weed once when i was 16 and once when i just turned 17, so by the time the interview comes around 2 years will have passed since i used. But until then i plan on keeping a steady job and going to college and if they take me they take me and if they dont they dont, and ill try again once i get out of college

Aaah, more details come out...
Alright bud, you are still very young and can't even get on the job 2 1/2 years anyway. You won't look like a viable candidate as well. Being 21, with maybe an AA by that point, won't make you stand out.
Get a LOT of time between yourself and your actions, 1 YEAR AGO! You smoked pot less than two years ago. I know of NO dept that will pick you up with that timeline by itself.
Go finish your degree (BA) and consider joining the military. You can also do yourself a favor and learn another language or attempt to volunteer at a Department of your choice.
And this point, and I rarely say this, you have no chance.

Two years is not a lot of time, I doubt very seriously any decent department is going to look at you seriously with your marijuana usage that recent. As said before, go to college and get a 4-year degree, or enlist in the military and get an honorable service record to outweigh your MJ usage. If you don't want to take the advice given here, it's your life, but if you apply now I doubt very seriously you'll be picked up by a reputable department with marijuana usage only 2 years ago (probably need to put 3-5 years between your application and last usage).

A recruiter will, as well as what other qualifications are necessary (or waivers may apply).

I've seen federal LEO jobs that say no drug usage in the past 12 months. Just apply and try, I know guys who have done alot worst than you that are LEO's.

Most agencies will want at least three years to have passed since your last use of Marijuana. There are some exceptions. Your task as I see it now, is to compile a good record in college. If you can do some part time work as well, that would be a plus. Most, if not all of us have done some stupid stuff as youngsters. Your past episodes with Marijuana will have to be disclosed. That includes the "sale". Keep your ducks in a row, and you might have a shot.

All that steroid use could pose a problem too.

Mike in regards to the question of selling pot when you were in the sixth grade:
The law in Cali is that under the age of 14 it is presumptive that you do not know right from wrong and are therefore incappable of commiting a crime so you should be fine in that regard (still disclose it during backgrounds and you may actually get positive integrity points with your BGI).
As for your more recent pot usage, as others have said, time will heal those wounds.
