A 33-year-old man arrested after he threatened to blow up his far northeast Dallas apartment had electrical circuits and wires known to be used for explosive devices, according to police documents.
Dallas police made the discovery when they arrested Motalekgose Mothuse Valela shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday following a four-hour standoff at the Forest Hill Apartments in the 9600 block of Forest Lane, near Interstate 635. Police have said they did not find an actual explosive device in the apartment. Valela was being held on a hoax bomb charge Wednesday night at the Dallas County Jail, where his bail was set at $1,500.
The events that led to the standoff began when Dallas County constables went to Valela’s apartment Tuesday afternoon to evict him, according to police documents. Valela was not home, and the constables told the property manager they would return the next day.
Valela threatened the property manager after she told him the constables had been there to evict him, the documents said.
“No one comes to my place without me being there, and I don’t care who it is: the constable, the police or the sheriff,” he said, according to the documents. “I will blow them all up and blow this place up.”
The property manager called police after she was notified that Valela had put a bomb threat note on his door. Shortly after 7 p.m., responding officers saw the note. Written in black ink, it read: “Bomb set on door, don’t touch.”
Two wires with alligator clip attachments were below the note, taped to the door frame, the documents said.
The Dallas police bomb squad and SWAT were called to the scene. Police also evacuated apartments in the area and shut down Forest Lane in both directions.
Dozens of area residents, police and news reporters looked on as officers in body armor and helmets methodically moved around the apartment building. Just after 11 p.m., an officer shouted to Valela over a loudspeaker.
“Come out with your hands up!” the officer said. “I see you standing at the window. We have the entire building surrounded. … If anyone gets hurt, it’s on you.”
Valela — who appears to have no prior criminal convictions — was arrested within minutes. As he was being escorted to a patrol car, the documents said, he stated: “President Obama will send me a check to pay my rent next week.”
Police searching the apartment found two kits of electrical circuits that are known to be used for improvised explosive devices, the documents said. Bomb detectives said the wires found at the scene are “typically used to make and arm bombs with.”

Glad it worked out for the officers!
Just another government subject expecting the government to pay his rent, pay his car payment, buy his groceries, etc....;
