The U.S. Postal Service OIG is hiring Student Co-ops!

It is great opportunity for college students and even grad students to gain investigative experience. Many locations are open and it is a paid position. A Special Agent/1811 OIG job is not a guarantee after the Co-op is over, but the experience is a great stepping stone. Check it out!

I recently received some PMs about the position. Yes, I am a Co-op and feel free to ask any questions on the public forum. It is a great experience and surpassed my expectations. USPS OIG is looking for some great people. Good luck to all!

The USPS OIG Co-op is similar to the SCEP program, but does not provide the following:

Leave
Life/Health Insurance

Here is Usajobs' page on SCEP and Co-ops:

http://www.usajobs.gov/EI14.asp

Also, the current Co-op announcement does not guarantee a job as a Federal Agent. I believe the SCEP program has a component that almost guarantees a job (Depends on the individual agency like CBP).

I also know of several former Co-ops who were picked up as Agents at USPS OIG, so it really depends on the budget, timing and luck... Right now the Postal Service finances are down, so if you do become a Co-op, make sure you have alternative plans (apply for other agencies too). I also know some Co-ops who have left without a job after the Co-op:( However, they used their experience at USPS OIG to open other doors and are in the process with other agencies like DEA, ATF, FBI, ICE and other OIGs.

Good luck!

Ya it is probably not much different than my scep position with CBP. You probably are not guranteed a job after you graduate but it is still experience you can put down on a resume.
