I purchased a Kustom Falcon Cordless Radar Gun on ebay recently and am awaiting it to arrive. I am wondering though if this particular radar gun allows use of the radar while it is charging? Is anyone familiar with this particular unit?

Found the answer. Thanks though.

An internal battery powers the Cordless Falcon for
up to eight hours on a full charge. Recharge

Doesn't your dept provide this type of equipment?

"Doesn't your dept provide this type of equipment?"
My question exactly....How can you testify to this instrument? "Your honor, I have here a print out of the Ebay reciept for this RADAR. I've taken the liberty of blacking out the beanie babies and Elvis collectable dinner plates I purchased from the same seller." :)
You'll have no repair or calibration records, etc. It would seem to be a guaranteed loser if that info were FOILED or subpoena'ed

Yes the department does provide these but they are all pretty much POS's and its no guarantee that one will be available to check out. Why would I not be able to testify to the instrument? As long as I has the notarized certification, which it does. It actually has papers certifying the calibration of the unit from a month ago. Why exactly do you think if something comes from ebay it doesn't have a repair or calibration records. You know there are certified radar dealers on ebay such as pbelectronics. I certainly see your point though if this were not the case. However in 11 years of law enforcement I have wrote thousands of tickets and have never had a trial on a speeding violation. I'm sure one reason why I havent is because I allow 14 MPH over the speed limit. Once they hit 15 over, they get a ticket. Most people I guess feel that this is more than fair.
Ohh, another reason I bought one for myself is that I'm now in the motor division. Most of the radars we have are not really motor friendly, due to not being cordless etc. Plus my department will service the radar if needed, at no cost to me.

I guess each area of the US is different. I allow more than you do on my speed cites and MANY of them go to trial. We are pretty well equipped, luckily. I've been using a LASER for speed enforcement for years now.
BTW, you bought an excellent RADAR. I used that and the STALKER before I got my LASER cert.

Yea, I don't quite understand my department. Its one of the nicer departments in my area and is really good at keeping us in new cars every two or three years. We have nice computers in all the cars and all the cars have the Watchguard video systems. They also issue us all tasers and give us $450 allowence per year to buy flashlights and any other gadgets we might want. However, for some reason they do not supply nice radars. I think its more due to them wanting patrol to respond to calls and focus more on the criminal activity and let motor division work the traffic. I would love to have a laser unit, but I don't see that anywhere in my near future. Who knows, now that I'm in motors under new "management", I might be surprised if I start pushing that we need them.

Yes i see your point of not going to court but if i may point out with my 1 year of law enforcement experience I to tend to stick to the same 15 over rule unless I am working DWI step. But the funny thing is I have never gone to muni court for a Step ticket but I have gone many times for my regular patrol tickets. Funny isn't it
