Hello again everyone. Had a question regarding regarding the Medical exam. To start, I took the PT tests (they call them CPAT's here) and maxed every event we had to complete (ran 300m in the mid-40's, ran 1.5-mile in low-11:00's, 42 push-ups and 50 sit-ups [they stop the SU an PU events when you have maxed]). I'm 6'3", but at the time weighed (for different tests) between 290 and 295lbs. Currently, I weigh 270 and am still outside of the regulation. WELL OUTSIDE THE REG. Apparently, I have to weigh 200lbs for my height. However, being that I am bench pressing over 400 lbs (thick through the chest and shoulders, 56" chest and 34" waist), I'd doubt I'll get below 230 in the next 2 months. I've come a long way from the 315 I weighed in January, though. Here's the thing, though...in 2006, when I was still in the ARMY, I weighed 175 lbs when I began the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC).
Apparently, though, they allow up to 20% body fat. But I have been told by no less than four recently-hired officers in the area that I could be 6'3" 260 and 10% body fat (jeesh, thats like shwarzenegger circa 1975) and they would DQ me at the medical exam not for being overweight, but for the rationale that "my heart would have to work too hard to sustain that mass and I would suffer a massive heart attack". He told me he'd known 3 recruits that had happened to... one guy's lats were so big he couldn't touch when he did his sit-ups and didn't even make it through the CPAT.
Here's the thing, though...I see cops all the time who are hulked out, but one of these guys told me "no, they do that after they get hired; they'd rather have you built like a twig at the academy". I just thought to myself, "What a load..." A twig? LOL... I used to eat guys bigger than me for breakfast when I played college ball. I couldn't imagine weighing below 200lbs again, though.
My problem with this is that, OK, I've almost made it to the last stage (conditional offer before academy) and you're telling me that I'm too BIG!?!? That is insane. HAHA... and for you older guys who are going to comment: never done steroids or illegal drugs. And yes, I can run... FAST
I'll keep you posted on the results of the medical, but if I do get DQ'd from some agencies process for carrying too much muscle mass, they might have to drag me off to the looney bin, because I will hit the roof.
Any-who, go ahead guys, pull it apart and get to me on this one.
