An officer of mine who has been out of work since August 2008. Resigned his position yesterday.

I am at home last night watching TV with the boys and one of my officer's calls me and says that this ex-officer is being detained at the Canadian Border en rout to Alaska.

Supervisor there wants to talk to me.

I pull on my pants, (yeah girls, in my undies) and head to the station.

Call lady supervisor and she tells me they have him detained with the Sheriff en-route. Pulled him out of line because of red lights in his grill of POV.

She says what do you want me to do. I tell her he has resigned as of that morning. She says he is flashing ID and badge of my department. I ask her to confiscate it. She just called my back and they still have him 24 hours later, oh boya.

Your time with your boys is just that. Isn't there someone left in charge when you are at home? Okay, perhaps I'm being over protective considering the family situation.

If he resigned he shouldn't have any id or badge period. Red lights on his POV?? Hmm..was he packing also? Me thinks he is in trouble for impersonating.

Canadian Supervisor should have just talked to the on duty Supervisor and made a decision. We get paid lots of money to make decisions.

Dependent on the Canadian Border Services Agency Port-of-Entry, the Border Security Officer that made that call MIGHT not be authorized, nor even trained, to do any more than that. However, if that WAS the case, I am PRETTY SURE that the ex-LEO had the chance to spend time in one of MY Force's cells!

Thanks for the info. Perhaps I didn't explain it right. The watch commander or whomever was in charge at outshined's dept should have made the decision.....and not bother chief at home.

As for spending time in your jail..he should HE'S NOT A COP any longer.

DX2, is not a large Dept. Not uncommon for the Chief to handle all sorts of matters 24/7.

Alaska? Why now? There is probably a lot more to this than can be put online.

Yes I am on call 24 hours a day. Alaska is where he came from when I hired him. He was a fireman there. After about a year in my department he started acting out a bit, had surgery on his ankle, and shot himself in the other foot. Divorced his wife and headed back to Alaska.

Update, got a call they let him go, Sheriff confiscated lights and badge and ID and will be sending it to me. Had a black and white copied one.

had surgery on his ankle, and shot himself in the other foot.

Maybe he can get a job with DEA since he's the "only one qualified" to handle a firearm.

I know. That was cheap, low, and uncalled for. Funny though. Which is MUCH more important.
