Welcome aboard. I have a quick question- How do you guys keep from passing out when you are wearing your vests in the summer? Does it really get to 104 there sometimes?!

Try 114 in the Phoenix valley. http://www.officer.com/ubb/frown.gif
You just suffer through and drink lots of fluids. We get shorts in the summer too, BDU type shorts. http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
It is a low humidity 7% or so, which allows you to evaporative cool better than the 90 degrees with 90% humidity that other parts of the country get.
It still bites, but is better than getting shot, we have lost alot of officers in the past 2 year in the valley.
Still makes me cry sometimes.

I'll take the 114/7% over the 97/90% any day! Welcome aboard, Hoppy!

Hey Hoppy,
Welcome! When you get too hot just remember it COULD be worse. I spent eight years in Death Valley after spending another eight over in Imperial Valley!

Hi there! I am trying to get my husband (Metropolitan Police officer in London) to post on here, but he says he doesn't get the time to do it!
He is issued with a stab-proof vest but Ihave to confess he very rarely uses it due to the fact that it restricts his movements. He drives an IRV and it's hard to be contantly getting in and out of the car wearing that thing. It does worry me, especially as he works in a tough inner-city area where there is alot of gun-crime. He isn't armed.
