In my family, our pets have always been like family members themselves. What kind of pets do you have? Any strange or exotic ones?
As for me, I have two kittens named Sasha and Bella as well as a goldfish and two parakeets at my apartment. My parents have three dogs, two of which have come from the police department. One was a black lab puppy and he was found tied up in a plastic garbage bag. The other was an Irish Setter mix and he was found abandoned as a puppy with his litter in the winter time.
So, how about you? List your family..err.. pets below!

Too damn many critters, IMO.
Three cats:
Bandit - Fuzzball, rarely seen, inoffensive
Blackie - the $600 cat, best of the lot, mighty hunter
Fluffernutter - Fletcher's chew toy, likes fluffernutters
Two dogs:
Fletcher - Mix breed, mostly spaniel, box of rocks
Boomer - English Springer, my gun dog, oak post
One rabbit:
Luna - newest addition, nice silver-black, could be Hassenpfeffer
Welllll,
My wife has two pets. Me and the Golden Retriever, not necessarily in that order! http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Well, Letsee...I have my husband, a 6'5 puppydog http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif andalso my son, who is another little puppydog.
Mitzie...My 7 year old female Yorkie...Super quiet, super smart, super adorable. We got her when I saw her owner kick her and I went home with her that night http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif When she DOES bark, which is rare, she sound like Louis Armstrong.
Bru...our one year old male Yorkie aka Butthead. He's adorable but young and so sweet. He is also quiet but doesn't have the bark of a Yorkie...It's real loud, like it comes from a larger dog. We got him from a breeder who was going to put him down because he doesn't fit breed standards.
Pepper.....our 10 year old white deaf cat who rules the roost, let me tell ya. He us so tiny and sweet but he chases Bru everywhere. We found him at the ballfield.
AND...last but not least....BUBBA, our 17 pound orange cat who hates both the dogs but tolerates the female. He has NO sense of humor and loves only me. We found him in a dumpster.

The last pets we had were our son's girbils. One day while he was at school the girbils got loose, ran into the kitchen, scared mom, who thought they were mice, and she chased them out the door with a broom.
We now have a herd of elk who camp out in our yard every now and then, an Eagle that sits on a branch in a tall fir tree next to the house, deer, quail (the babies look just like half a walnut shell), pheasants, mountain beavers, skunks, coyotes, sea gulls who eat the moss off the roof. The only animals that haven't come to visit are black bears, but they have been in a neighbor's yard. We also haven't seen any cougars, but if one does show up, I'm a h*** of a wacker with the broom. http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Right now all I have is a short haired tabby that is orange striped. He is 18months old and I recently aquired him from the pound. His name is tigger and he fits in great. Soon I hope to have a puppy to go along with him but have not found the right one yet.

I wish I could have a dog but living in an apt. you cannot. If I could however, I would get a German Shepard or a Golden Retreiver. I even like Samoyeds.

I'm with you Blue. Had a GSP, Byron, but he was all beauty and no brains. Sure looked good on point and retrieving birds, though - just like on TV. He had an unfortunate meeting with a truck. http://www.officer.com/ubb/frown.gif
Would love another someday. My Springer is OK, but not quite the dog.......***sighs***

We have outdoor pets.
Snort is our big guard dog. He's 5 yrs. old, pure white, & about 75 lbs. His mother is a solid black wolf & father was "a big white dog that jumped the fence", according to the lady we got him from. He's actually very friendly but has a mean bark. He doesn't like car engines, particularly large trucks, & bicycles. http://www.officer.com/ubb/confused.gif He's battling heart worms right now so we have him penned up.
Panther is the mean black cat that my son found at one of the city parks as a starving baby kitten & brought home. My son then got married & moved to an apartment & had to leave the cat. He has some sharp claws. The cat that is.
We used to have a squirrel monkey named Corky. My sister-in-law went into the Navy & left him with us to take care of. He was fun at times but he was very tempermental & with young children around we felt it best to give him to the zoo.

Two adult African Spurred Tortoises. Biggest one, Zues weighs a little over 100 pounds. Isis, the small one only weighs about 70 lbs.. http://www.geocities.com/nikonbob/kidstort.jpg
The picture shows three, but unfortunately the female on the left died recently.
One smaller Africa Spurred. http://www.geocities.com/nikonbob/Turtlecrop.jpg
Two Leopard Tortoises. http://www.geocities.com/nikonbob/Handheld.jpg
And one 8 mounth old golden retriever, who comes to work with me everyday, and is the smartest dog in the world. Sorry, no pictures of Sabastian, but I'm sure most of you know what a golden retriever looks like.

We have the two greatest pets we've ever owned: two greyhounds rescued from the track. One weighs 90 pounds, the other 75. They're the sweetest, funniest animals and are exactly as they're billed: 40 mile an hour couch potatoes! And boy are they fun to watch run!

I can vouch for Greyhounds. Sweetest, most docile animals I've seen. I had a rescued one for a couple years, but because I was moving and had no idea where to, I had to give her away. Broke my heart.

Just one collie dog called Otter, three years old.
I got him from the rescue center. He used to be a sheep dog. B
ut, acting along with others he killed a sheep. He's lucky he only got jail time in the kennel and not shot.
I'm glad to say that there are not many sheep in my part of the town though.

I have a 1 year old black/brown Greman Shepard. Got a call one night about a noice coming from a back yard. Found a little puppy stuck in a drainage pipe by a creek. Took her home and $2000.00 worth of vet bills later and she is a great dog. If only I could get her to stop tearing up the newspaper before I get home in the morning.

I have my Toby Tyler, a 5 year old Black Lab/Manchester Terrier mix(try to imagine a barrel on 4 legs!). Sings, says "Mama", and will hunt a mouse to the death. Very tolerant of the cat; will share his food, bed, and toys with him. Unreal for a dog.
I lost the argument, and we adopted a kitten a few months ago. My daughter calls him Gizmo, but I call him a few choice expletives at times. Favors my wife(a real Mama's baby). Very curious, and rather playful. Only 6 months old, but already looks full grown. Don't get me wrong- deep down inside, I really do love cats, and that little bugger knows it!
My daughter has a dwarf hamster named Sweetheart(aka Rodent, Cat Food, Pain in the A**!!!!). Should have named him Houdini, for all the times he has escaped.
In the past years, I have had parakeets and cockatiels. I could take up a whole page telling you about their crazy antics.

Nikon... cool turtles! http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif
Well, we are finally down to one cockatiel and a cat.
The bird is named Jewels because he is fascinated with nibbling on our jewelry. He was hand fed as a wee bird and has always been people friendly since we bought him... he'll perch on anyone's finger. He knows how to wolf whistle and he says, "here, kitty kitty" and "love you" ... and he squawks every time a school bus drives by because he knows that means one of the kids are home. When he starts, we have to take him to the kitchen to show him the microwave in hopes he'll get the message... but he never does. http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
The cat is named Tiger and many of you have already read about him and our sweet reward earlier this year. http://www.officer.com/ubb/tongue.gif

There certainly are some interesting pets out there; I wonder how some of them were named! http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif I have Vaughan, a Rottweiler who never moves unless its dinnertime, KiKi, my calico girlie, and Patsy, our 7 week old newest addition brindle dachshund. She is the cutest lil' thing. I also have 2 aquariums full of nameless fish. Well, the Goldfish is named Pikachu by my 5 year old daughter. Growing up, my sister and I brought everything home, and our mom was very cool about it, until we brought the bat home in the Huggies box.

Rebacca, don't let my son or daughter, int the picture, hear you call them turtles. They would correct you and make sure you knew they were tortoises http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif. I used to correct people too, but everyone calls them turtles so I gave up.
The next question will most likely be, "What is the difference between turtles and tortoises?".
My wise guy answer is, "around $600".
The real answer depends on wear you live. In most parts of the U.S. turles live in or near water, and tortoise live on the ground. If my tortoises go into water they sink, If you put a box turtle, which you find mostly on land, in water he would float.

We have thinned the herd considerably around here. All the big livestock has moved on. We got ourselves down to one dog, Misha, a lovable German Shepard, and a couple of those goofy fighting fish.
We also now have an orange and white cat. He just walked in the house one day and never went away. We also now have some type of Spaniel that dug in the yard when Misha was in heat and he too has never left. Actually quiet lovable. I suppose I will soon have to either name him or shoot him.
JUST KIDDING http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Had to get you animal rights type fired up there for a second. You guys can have all the puppies. I'm still not convinced my wife doesn't go out and find these animals and bring them home and then tell me they just arrived. Kind of like the last child ???????? Things that make you go HHHMMMMM. She is now hinting badly she wants chickens again and my daughter just dropped the rabbit bomb on me. "Mom said it was OK if it's OK with you." "And they go in the kitty litter." I just recently convinced the next oldest one that rats were not really the most appropriate pet for the house. http://www.officer.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Whats a Dad to do? http://www.officer.com/ubb/confused.gif
PS: DMS, my son had an Arab gelding named Houdini for just that reason. I can't count on ALL my appendages how many times we trecked across the desert to bring that fool back home. One time, he took off the bottom corral rail and shimmyed under. No lie. He left very distinct drag marks in the dirt. (Crime Scene 101)

I was asked to post a reply here for a friend.
My good friend and past partner Taz has a German Shepherd he named Jerry Lee(from the movie K9). He thinks he's a lap dog. Protects his territory, but is a real ***** cat once he gets to know you.
He does the damndest thing I've ever seen a dog do; Taz will tell Jerry Lee to get him his cigarettes, and Jerry Lee will go get them, and bring them to Taz, without hurting them! And them will go get Taz his lighter!
But what really amazes me is that Jerry Lee knows the difference between brands, and which lighter belongs to Taz(Taz's wife smokes, too. Different brand).
One night Jerry Lee brought ME the cigarettes, without being told to(trying to be a good host?). Broke my heart to tell him I don't smoke(I quit 2 years ago).

I lost my mutt, Missy, and my white cat, Irving, within days of each other. They were both 16 years old and best friends. They even slept together, all cuddled up. But Irving hated one thing Missy would do. She was a black mutt, about 30 pounds. When I would let her in from outside, she would tear through the family room and grab Irving's leg, pulling him clear across the room. Used to make him so mad, he'd come up swinging and she would weave like a pro boxer to get away from him. They used to make us laugh so much, they were such characters. I had to have Missy put down. A few days later, Irving had to be put down too. He totally quit eating when Missy died. I think he just missed her so much, he died of a broken heart. That sure was a week of tears around this house.
2 slobering bloodhounds, Brandy & Clyde.
1 Siamese cat, Psycho Kitty.
1 10 month old German Shephard, Dakota, who thinks my entire house and everything in it is nothing more than his own personal "chew toy".
