What takes up your spare time? For me I'm an avid reader and like to collect books, anything of interest really but I like Biographies/Autobiographies I also have hundreds on Militaria and WW2. I'm also into history and collect German WW2 Militaria such as Medals, Daggers and Swords. Recently a friend of mine started sending me LE Patches particularly Federal SWAT teams so I guess that's a new thread to be getting on with http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I love to read. But it seems I usually end up spending what little money I have on LE related books. Much of my library consists of books with titles that start out with "Practical Aspects of..."
I enjoy photography, but it is an expensive hobby. I'd like to get into medium format, but THAT is an investment.
I've recently begun writing articles for the LE trade journals. I think I might have some fun with that.
I've also recently begun instructing at the Basic Academy some and would like to do that in my off time. I really enjoy it and it is also a way to make extra cash.
I'd like to get into collecting police memorabilia. Y'know...antique handcuffs, and stuff. That would be neat!
I'm thinking about beginning a patch collection myself, but I want to restrict it to agencies that are in the district that I work in. that way it would be only agencies that I have worked with. And I might want to collect tactical unit patches too.

Lately it seems my only hobby is driving children somewhere. Three of them have decided they need hobbies that can only be found in Las Vegas so now the wife and I have added three more round trips a week.
Like probably half the folks on this board, I collect Police Memorabilia. I have patches, pins, toys, hats, etc.
I love motorcycles and will ride anywhere any chance I get, street or dirt. In line with that, I enjoy traveling in general. One of the best times I've ever had was when my wife and went into town for dinner one evening while our oldest stayed with the kids. After dinner we called her and said we weren't coming home and we started North on US 95 and didn't come home for 4 days. Saw our first whore house, the lowest point in the US, giant trees, orange groves with an aroma I will never forget, and a hotel without a furnace. Is always fun to find original ways to keep warm! Was a wonderful time.
I WAS a fitness freak until a few months ago. I would get of bed and immediately go run, then lift weights on my lunch hour 3-4 days a week. Diet was supurb. I have since found myself in this lazy mode I can't seem to come out of and Pepsi and Snickers have become my best friends again. My V is quickly becoming an hour glass. Will get it back when I get to point I can't stand to look at myself in the mirror. That should be very soon. At least I still look good with my clothes on (That's what my says to make me feel "better?")
When time allows, camping, fishing, taking the kids swimming, and taking the wife out for a night on the town.

I LOVE to read! I like true crime books but not just any true crime books. I like Bledsoe, Rule and Olson...Authors who throughly research their books. I don't buy a book that is obviously just for some sort of gruesome interest.
I also live biographies. I am reading one on Joseph P. Kenndey, Sr. righ t now...I see why the family has it's problems!
I also love to draw and have even sold some of my drawings and recently won 2 awards for them! I collect depression glass also...adn I am learning papersculpture!

I like gardening too Aussie. My favorite flowers to grow are dahlias. I had some get quite large this summer. Also my zinnias I started from seeds got over 6'.
Photography is a true passion of mine. I develop my own black and white prints, too expensive for color.
I love designing web pages. IN fact, I have turned it into a sideline business and do consultant work for a few clients.
I like reading when I get a chance and building miniature dollhouses. Traveling too.

I build and launch model rockets with my kids.
I used to play music professionally, but now I do it for fun. I occasionally get together and jam with friends. I play the drums, and a little guitar.
I read, and watch the History channel a lot; I get a kick out of learning something new.
My wife and I love to play cribbage and Scrabble, do crossword puzzles, and play computer games! I'm crazy about trivia games.
I'm always tinkering on something out in my garage, and do all my own light mechanical work on my vehicles.
As of late, with my wife down with a broken ankle, I have been doing the cooking. Under her guidance, I've been getting a kick out of learning to cook more than simple things. Not to mention the pride when it turns out great!

Work and go to school is what I do in my spare time. On that rare occasion that I dont have anything else to do, I love to read and occasionally fall asleep in front of the T.V.

It used to be play sports but nowadays it's watch sports. I get out to the golf course about once a month. Most of the spare time is spent playing in our Department band. It's not work since we all volunteer our time and don't get compensated. The rest of my spare time is spent playing games on the computer & watching TV.

With three kids, there's not much time for my hobbies, so... it's a good thing my kids are a part of some of the ones I enjoy the most, which is... talking with them because they are all so interesting, designing poster art with children's themes, playing with Playdoh and painting by numbers (don't laugh, my kids love it when I do this with them!), cooking and baking (HUGE PASSION! there's nothing like having others eat something I've lovingly made for them) and playing board games and video games with them.
Some of the other things I like to do includes flower arranging, writing poetry, soaking in a hot bath, drinking coffee in the mornings all by myself while I watch the squirrels play (they're so funny to watch!), sneaking off for a favorite drive I like to take down a road I grew up on and if there's time... I go out and sit on my all time favorite pier for reminiscing... backgammon and card games with friends and, of course...... would I be me if I didn't tremendously like dating sexy men? Ahhh, we all have a real weakness within, don't we? http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I don't get too much time off, but what time I do get is usually spent with the family(including the dog, of course). I love to cook, especially on the grill. Here lately I've been slacking off and my wife has been doing most of it.
I love Hot Wheels and any other die cast. Having a kid gives me an excuse to go into the toy section! Of course, she's a girl, but she likes cars, too.
A lot of my other time killers revolve around work...either messing around with the p-car(just installed a handsfree kit for the cell phone and moved the console around Sunday), doing anything to get organized and efficient, and patch collecting. If anyone is interested in one of mine, just drop me an e-mail. I'll collect anything.

Personly I read a lot. Because I am Police Reserve I train also very much for possible situations (boxing, hand gun shooting etc.). Normaly (dayly) I work in a computer center as a computer specialist for network banking software (Internet ja Mobile networks). I know quite a lot from computers and Internet software, so if you sometimes need to ask something, do not hesitate. Perhaps I can give you a hint, how it was done.
That is what I do, I mean, I have no spare time. I do not want to have a spare time. This is why I joined the force (Helsinki Police Dept.).

Riding my Gold Wing...only around town the last few years, have ridden to 34 states in early 90s...Powerlifting, playing with power tools, putting off my "honey do" list, playing gin rummy, riding my Gold Wing, hanging out with my wife, making my Sergeant roll his eyes, and powerlifting...
I enjoy reading books and playing with my dog. With work and school I am not left with much time after that. Well, of course there are definitely some things I will make time for http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif .
