No Aussie... this forum is designed for new members to have a place to post and tell us a little about themselves. Of course, you may find you a honey in here, too! http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
AussieCop,
You wouldn't happen to be from Perth would you? I've noticed a trend towards stupendous irreverance and homour amongst that lot.

Wasn't the TV series "A Town Called Alice" about an Ausie soldier from Alice Springs?

Firstly.... there are no chicken farms in or even anywhere near Alice Springs. Secondly, we don't call em chickens. A chicken is a lit yellow ball of fuzz that hatches from an egg. They grow up to be chooks.
The Outback Restaurants in the U.S. are U.S. owned and have nothing to do with Australia. They are merely commercialising on my wonderful country using Australian colloquialisms and names..
A TOWN LIKE ALICE... a novel by Neville Shute
The book is fantastic... but the movies/....
First Movie was filmed in the 1950's. It starred an actor Peter Finch. It was a black and white film and the footage of Alice Springs was Alice Springs..
The second movie made in the 1980's starred Bryan Brown and was filmed in the Australian States of New South Wales and Queensland. There was no footage whatsoever of Alice Springs. Alice is surrounded by red and crimson mountains called the Macdonnell Ranges. They are over 250 miles long and are inundated with gaps, gorges, chasms and water holes. The second Town Like Alice Movie showed the town to be flat and barren. Presently, we have had lots of rain. The normally dry river is flowing, the country is green with fresh grass growth and looks stupendous. We are only 200 miles from Ayers Rock. Alice is not a desert, but is surrounded by desert.
