I understand they re-negotiate in every given time-span (5 years?).

My question is: Does the re-negotiation effect every officer? Or is it, from what I've heard, you can only benefit from the new salary (higher salary)?

Seems far-fetched so I figure someone on here would know.

I'm aware of the pension/retirement being possibly "grandfathered" in (although people dispute that as well).

Thanks guys

once your hired your benefits and salary can only improve

When you hear of lowering the starting salary and pension changes, like the story posted recently about changing the 20 year and out pension, that only affects new employees(or unborns) that start after the change takes effect.

A cut in salary for existing officers would have to be voted and approved by the entire union and would never get the votes needed to actually happen.

Unless some arbitrator believes otherwise.

As noted, salaries can only somewhat improve(not if we get 0's again). Benefits on the other hand may or may not improve. Givebacks have happened in the past.

We are not talking about monetary givebacks from salary, but givebacks in tours/vacation/chart days..etc.
