Does anyone (who actually knows what they are talking about) know anything (besides what their website says) about this department?
And yes, I know all about the tazer/shooting incident. . .
What's the reputation like?
How do they handle their business?
Do/can they "work/dig" on and/or off BART turf?
How's the officers moral and attitude?
Is the supervision competent?
Ect Ect...
Thanks anyone!

One of my friends dad is a cop for BART. He says they pay really really well and i even hear that form other officers. They can go anywhere in California. By law they can, but nobody really knows that. I have seen a BART cop directing traffic at an accident once that was 7 miles away from BART. Dont know much about them other then that. :)

Not a BART vet but I worked in the East Bay for 13 years in a town with a station and worked with BART PD quite a bit over the years. I have a very good friend who has worked there about three years. They are a specialized PD so they have their own specialized problems.
What's the reputation like?
Not bad in the Bay Area. They tend to hire squared away folks.
How do they handle their business?
Most guys go to work and handle their calls. Self initiated policing does not seem to be punished but it isn't necessarily rewarded.
Do/can they "work/dig" on and/or off BART turf?
Off property policing is somewhat discouraged. You are paid to patrol areas in and around stations/BART property. For example if an officer stops a DUI away from BART property he is required by policy to call the agency where the stop occurred and offer to turn it over. If they decline the officer may then make the arrest.
How's the officers moral and attitude?
Based on my conversations with my friend somewhat sketchy, cautious, and worried since the shooting.
Is the supervision competent?
PD sergeants I worked with always seemed squared away. The complaint I've heard is that law enforcement functions tend to take a back seat to the trains (somewhat understandable). The PD is pushed to clear crime scenes as fast as possible to open stations and trackways sometimes to the detriment of investigations. The spokesperson in any BART PD event is from BART Management, not from the PD.

BART PD is a great group of guys-Work with them alot, they have a pretty big station in our town-Very chill dept, but they can get down and dirty with everyone else just as much-I remember a call going out of a big group of gang members coming off the train to meet another group-BPD notified us, and there were a good 8 of them standing outside the stations with their big wooden sticks (they still carry those-gotta lovem) waiting for these guys-its a good gig for sure
