View Full Version : Any known CSO positions in Stockton/Sacramento/SF Bay area?

I hate to ask this but I've been browsing for a while for CSO positions in the Stockton/Sacramento and SF bay area but really haven't found anything. The few CSO positions I found are for colleges which most requires you to be a student. If anyone knows of any depts. that are hiring for CSO in this tough economy let me know, I am interested.

It might be tough to find a non-sworn CSO position when many agencies are fighting not to cut sworn officers. Good luck to you.

Yea, I actually saw the San Joaquin Delta College listing on friday, the day the application was due. I'll check into the others, thanks.

Thanks for the advice midnight blue. I figured that too but need to get my foot into the door somehow.

Salary: $2,752.00 - $3,688.00 Monthly

THE POSITION:
A non-sworn civilian position in the Police Department performing a variety of duties with an emphasis on prisoner booking and transportation, parking enforcement, community outreach, information collection, record keeping, and other related work, as assigned. Typical duties include routine non-sworn police work to more complex duties of a similar nature; serving subpoenas; patrolling City parks to enforce applicable laws, rules and regulations; issuing citations; providing security at various locations; organizing community outreach activities such as; crime prevention, neighborhood watch groups, and public safety awareness. The position may investigate crime scenes as appropriate, direct vehicular or pedestrian traffic, and work in other divisions such as Traffic, Investigations, and Special Operations.


Ideal Candidate:
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age and a citizen of the United States; or be a permanent resident alien and have applied for citizenship. Community Service Officers are required to join “Chico Public Safety Association” or pay a service fee as a condition of employment.

Education and Experience: High school graduation or equivalent, and any experience that would provide knowledge of basic practices and techniques for information collection and record keeping.

Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of: English usage; spelling; punctuation; and basic computer skills including word processing.
Ability to: Interpret written and oral instructions; perform arithmetical computations; learn the proper and safe techniques to deal tactfully and effectively with the public; write clear and accurate reports; learn to operate radio, telephone and computer-aided dispatch equipment; and successfully complete formal training courses on job-related responsibilities, including Module A of the Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Agency Penal Code 832 course within 12 months of employment.

ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A DETAILED BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION PRIOR TO BEING ACCEPTED FOR EMPLOYMENT WITH THE CHICO POLICE DEPARTMENT.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
NON-SMOKING ON DUTY REQUIREMENT: City rules prohibit smoking and the use of smokeless tobacco on duty, by all Police Community Services Officer employees. A copy of such form is available upon request.

A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER LICENSE IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
