Hello everyone. My name is Brandon. I live in Indiana. My wife and I are thinking of relocating to California. I'm a nationally registered paramedic. I am also very interested in becoming a law enforcement officer. I recently applied with the Sonoma County Sheriffs Department Henry 1 rescue heilcopter. I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the Sonoma County Sheriffs Department and Henry 1. And possibly what my chances are of being hired. It seems like the best of both worlds for me. Ems and possibly the opportunity to become a deputy. Thanks in advance for all the replies.

In my opinion, you couldn't have picked a better agency to work for. I used to work there as a civilian and had a great time.
Henry-1 has three crew positions, the pilot, observer(sworn deputy), and a paramedic. From what i remember, the deputy position has it "regulars" who are assigned to the crew. But also within the dept there are other deputies who are qualified to fly with the helicopter and can fill in.
The paramedic spot was alos kinda the same, they would have their regulars and some fill-in's also. Those people were usually pulled from the local fire departments, and ambulance companys.
Things have changed a little bit in the last couple years, because the department actually bought the helicopter instead of leasing it. So they may be doing the hiring a little different. But either way, the dept. is really good, everyone I know that works there still loves it.
