Lt Lawerence Eade is the man. He should do news reporting or politics and straighten out this state

Taking a moment off, from watching the live feed of the officers' memorial service (thanks for the link).

While none of the "VIPs" present (so far) has failed to recognize the sacrifice of these brave officers, Senator Boxer quoted the words of Abraham Lincoln in what appeared to be a moronic attempt to equate the officers' deaths and that of the scumbag murderer with the deaths of soldiers fighting in the Civil War. What a senseless fool!

Neither her, Senator Feinstein, the Governor or Attorney General Brown (ex-governor "Moonbeam") had the guts to say what OPD Captain Edward Tracy did: That the officers' deaths were due to the "selfish and cowardly acts of a criminal." Failing to recognize that, only gives credence to those who find the murders or those who excuse them as "understandable." Ignorance and those who justify it is what leads to the "thug life" and the misery it causes to others.

I agree Pullicords.

But that is why those folks are politicians.

What struck me today as I watched the funeral was what those Officers represented. They represented America. 4 totally different persons, with completely different personalities. Yet all 4 were your everyday "ALL AMERICAN GUY". They all loved their families, loved their work, did work outside of their positions to better their communities, all while finding the time to excel in the sports/activities they loved. Obviously, a great bunch of guys.

I am sad today. But I was able to hear about 4 men who led lives that I can aspire to immulate as I attempt to make my mark for my Lord, my family, my Country and my community.

Just got back to the office from attending the cermony at Oakland Oracle arena. Words cannot express the camradere that I felt, when see'ing PD's and SD's coming from all across the country, local, county, state and feds. By far my favorite speaker was the Retired Lieutenant Lawrence Eade, that was good stuff.

It was a well organized and moving ceremony overall, and I definatly shed many tears there. Rest in Peace Mark, John, Erv and Dan.

I tried to find a copy of the text (of Eade's remarks) online, but I guess it hasn't been released.

I just saw on the site that aired the funeral today that the sister of the dead POS, the one that claimed her brother wasn't a monster was in court today for drug charges after her FTA for a previous drug arrest.

What an awesome ceremony. I missed it, but I did see a lot of side clips of the entire funeral on our local news station. If anyone has a link to a site that has it saved please share (maybe youtube?). Its very comforting for everyone to see all the support from every LE agency you can think of. God bless these 4 heroes and their families.

Everyone stay safe.

I just heard that "at the request of one of the families" Mayor Ron Dellums did not speak at the memorial service. Hearing how Officer Hege was treated just prior his scheduled entry in the full time academy after serving OPD as a reserve officer for years provides a pretty good clue as to why. :(

I think his best comment was, "I need to set the record straight, the citizens are not warring against the police. There is no war between us and, I might add, you cannot create one."

I really wish I could have gone...I was out of town so I couldn't even watch it on TV. I'm glad they streamed it online or I would have missed it.

My partner and I drove to Oakland on Thursday morning with many more of us soon after. I just want to say thank you to the OPD for being more than accomendating to us as soon as we arrived. They drove us to their meet and greet at their union hall. Fed us and continued to drive us wherever we needed to go. They were so concerned with us even though they were dealing with their tragic loss. Thank you again.

It was also nice to see the many different uniforms from around the country and Canada. So much comraderie during this tragic time. Makes me very proud to wear the badge.

Brothers and Sisters in Law Enforcement,

On behalf of the San Francisco Police Department, we thank you to all who attended. It was a wonderful show of support for our fallen brothers of the Oakland Police Department.

This horrific and absolutely shocking tragedy affects police officers throughout the nation, however none more so than our brother and sister officers of the Oakland Police Department.

It was a humbling experience to see law enforcement agencies from NYPD, Chicago PD, Minneapolis PD, Boston PD, LAPD, The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and numerous other police agencies. In sad times like these, it makes me proud to see the support from all of us in the law enforcement family.

The brotherhood of the badge, the thin blue line, we will never forget.

Fraternally,
