Ok, so I think I've seen about every possible thread in this forum but never one talking about food.

SHARE A FAVORITE MEAL ALONG WITH RECIPE

Tonight I had a NY Strip with a spinach salad

Broiled NY Strip:
Preheat oven to broil with skillet in oven
Rub steak w/ garlic, kosher salt, pepper, montreal steak seasoning
Throw steak on skillet in oven about 2 minutes on each side for medium rare (depending on thickness)
Take out, wrap in tin foil, let rest for 5-10 minutes

Spinach salad:
Baby Spinach
Newmans Own Lite Red Wine Vinegar & Olive Oil Dressing (I squeeze in some lemon for added flavor)

Also I let the meat set out after I put seasoning on it. Taking it from a cold fridge to 400+ degrees isn't good for the cow

NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!

Grilled Salmon fillet, served with...

Parmesan cous cous
(a secret) Portabella mushrooms in a wine sauce
topped with cesar salad.

And yes, I can cook all this...

AH, another Salmon lover... maybe we should share recipes ;)

That's what this thread is for... please share!

I tend to stay away from food websites because the cooking process just gets too complicated for me. I like my meals simple...

I'll have to give that one a try minus the mustard part. Thanks for sharing

Well, my salmon is no brainer, let it sit in lemon and garnish for the day, then grill..

The mushroom in wine sauce... well... it's built on taste... but it includes mushrooms, red wine, garlic, pepper, and anchovie paste...

i pretty much like any mix of meat and potatoes!

One of the favorite meals is a fresh pork compilation.

We'll put a boar down, and skin it.

The backstraps get put in the oven to dry out, then in the crock pot overnight. then pull the pork with 2 forks, then mix your favorite bbq sause in.

The shoulders get smoked for about 10-12 hours adding your favorite herbs and spices.

The ribs get soaked in bbq sauce and thrown on the grill.

Take a bag of potatoes, peel em, boil them, and drain the water. hand mash them, add milk and butter to likeness.

serve all of it together and youll have a really great "buffet" for everyone to choose from.

I had California Roast Beef sandwiches for dinner tonight.

Make au jus (from a package, sorry). Deli roast beef sliced thin run that through the au jus until heated. Stack as much as you like on the bottom half of the french roll. Add a whole ortega chili and a slice of swiss cheese on top of the beef. Butter the other side of the roll and place both sides under a broiler until the cheese is melted and the other side is browned. Drizzle some au jus on both sides and a little mayo. Put the sandwich together and yummmm.

Served this with a side of macaroni salad. Made with mayo, mustard, hard boiled eggs, olives, and a little relish.

You can't taste the anchovies at all... unless you put a lot in... it's simply there to add consistency. The garlic conceals the "fish taste"

When I was working all the time, I'd take a simple sandwich and think of what all I can add to make it different. Came up with some favorites. Good stuff

Ok, I'm gonna try it, but if my wife sees anchovies in the pantry, she's gonna kill me lol

Yes sir, I did appreciate the ultimate cheeseburger thread. I think I made one that night when I was reading the recipes. That was 4 months ago and haven't really seen anything since that.

I am honored you responded to my thread, you're like royalty around here ya know :):) You still gotta give up a recipe though :D

For those who missed it:

Ultimate Daddy Surprize! (So named by two little troopers who still love it even though they grew up, smell and are in college. :) )

2 pounds of shredded or ground elk, deer, beef or a mixture of same - browned up and seasoned with your favorite taco seasoning.

One can of Campbells Tomato Soup - mix it in to the meat
1/2 cup of brown sugar
five or six splashed of Worcestershire sauce
five or six splashes of Tobasco Sauce
A chopped onion
a teaspoon of minced garlic

Prepare the meat so it's like Sloppy Joe consistency. Get a large cassarole dish. Place in layers:

A layer of the meat mix
A layer of Corn Chex
A layer of shredded sharp cheddar
A layer of the meat mix
a layer of Rice Checx
A Layer of shredded Jack or Mozzaralla cheese
A l;ayer of the meat mix
A layer of Crispix
A thick layer of all the cheeses

Bake at 350 till the cheese is melted and starting to crust. Take it out and let it sit about five minutes. Very important!

Stuff till you drop. As an option, splash some more Tobasco on your serving till your eyes water. Mmmmmmm BOY!

To be perfectly honest, the mustard cant even be tasted once its made.....

I tend to make twice the amount of sauce, and then make white rice and drizzle it over white rice for lunches.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

This is really simple to make.

You will need:
1 pound chicken
Mushrooms of your choice
1 pkg. fresh linguine
1 quart heavy cream
cajun spice
Any extra's you may like (tomatoes, olives, you can even add shrimp)

Cube the chicken and sautee with mushrooms till cooked through (about 5 minutes, depending on how you cut your chicken)

Drain juices.

Add heavy cream and heat. It will thicken as it cooks. Low heat people, it is cream, it will scorch.

Now the spice is up to you. Add to taste. I throw in some cayenne for extra kick.

Cook your fresh pasta and mix it all together. Serve with french bread and a salad.

Quick and delicious.

CLASSIC BEEF STROGANOFF

1 1/2 LBS. beef sirloin steak, 1/2 inch thick
8oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced (2 1/2 cups)
2 medium onions, thinly sliced
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sour cream
3 cups hot cooked egg noodles (I usually use more)

(note* I usually toss a bit of coarse ground pepper or cracked peppercorns in this recipie too)

1. Cut beef across grain into about 1 1/2x1/2 inch strips

2. Cook mushrooms, onions, and garlic in the butter in a 10 inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally until onions are tender. Remove from skillet.

3. Cook beef (over medium heat) in the same skillet until brown. Stir in *1 cup* of the beef broth, the salt, and Worcesershire sauce. Heat to boiling, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes

4. Stir remaining 1/2 cup beef broth into the flour, then stir into beef mixture. Add onion and mushroom mixture; heat to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil and stir one minute.

5. Stir in sour cream and just heat until hot--do not boil the sour cream mixture. Pour over the cooked egg noodles.

Can add chives or parsley for garnish.
