A friend of mine is from Maryland and she was here in San Diego driving a rental when she was photographed in a red light intersection.

Well that ticket or notice of red light violation was sent to the rental company. 5 months later the rental company gave San Diego County her personal info and now 6 months later she has a notice to appear.

Her question is that in the original notice that was sent to the rental company it stated she has 15 days to appear in court. Well its well beyond the 15 days and now she has another notice to appear. Plus I think she wants to dispute the ticket because she was in the intersection for .075 seconds (so she says). I think she thinks she could find a loophole to get out of the ticket....I told her probably not.

Any info in regards to resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.:D

She can contact the court, get a date and protest the ticket.

But it's going to cost her more to fly here..than pay the ticket. Red light camera violations up here are $371.

I'm not going to give any advice on potential loopholes though there are probably none as red light programs typically follow the letter of the law because a higher percentage get fought than in-person citations.

Your aunt does have the right to fight her ticket through the mail via the trial by declaration process. She needs to contact the court to arrange this.

$446 dollars here and i did research and the laws are almost bulletproof for those. Tell her to jsut pay the ticket and traffic school it. Much less hassle.

No way out, tell her to pay it. LAPD just started serving on duty Officers with "investigation" notices for violations, which includes a .02 mph cal roll right turn. If you don't stop fully for at least 1 second they pop you on rt turns.

I hate those things.
