Does the US Border Patrol carry rifles?

All the answers Ive heard were no which I just can not believe...Ive seen pictures of USBP with M4's before...I just need a good answer.

Well yeah But i mean How do I know those arnt special units? I'm Talking about the average "in the SUV" BP officer..

You won't see a BP officer with a rifle, since they don't exist. However, Border Patrol Agents have several longarm and less lethal options to choose from before they head out to the field.

We can check out a M-4's, Shotguns or some less then lethal... pepperball launcher or FN 303.

Yes they do.

I have a good friend who is an Agent in CA. He told me that they get a choice between a shotgun or rifle. And no, he is not in a special unit like a reaction force. It depends on their current post.

I can tell you first hand that i have worked with BP and yes they do.
