To all law enforcement officials out there:
Thank you for all you do.

I am not in any branch of law enforcement, but I have a request for any NYPD officers - a good friend of mine, a guy I grew up and went to college with, passed away early Sunday morning. His name was Matthew J. Tischler, aged 24, and he was a NYPD cop in the 105 Precinct, in, I believe, South Queens. I think he went through the academy last January or July (2008), but don't quote me on that. I hadn't seen him in a while, about two years or so, but he was excited to be going in; being NYPD was all he ever wanted.
He was a big dude with a massive heart and a fun-loving nature unlike anyone I'd ever met.
My request is this: if any of you out there know him, or know someone who knows him, please - I'd love to hear a story or two. Feel free to post in the thread or Private Message me, but I think it'd be a nice touch to at least pass a few tales of his NYPD days onto some of our group of friends. I'm sure many of his fellow officers from the 105 will be around the viewing and burial, but I'm curious about any other lives he may have touched.
In any case, thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope this hasn't served to offend anyone. All the best, and thanks again for all you folks do.
Hank

I didn't know him personally, but I am very sorry for your loss. I am sure he was an amazing person and a great cop.
