How long are all steps good for?

I finished all my steps for Jan academy in Nov or Dec. I called my BI yest to ask her if I need to do anything for July incase they have a big class. She said no, you are 4q just sit and wait for the call. How long is medical, jst psych and mini med good for?

IIRC, the Medical is good for 2 years, psych and JST 1 year and Mini Med for 6 months...


But then again, i could be completely wrong; I think that's what they told me when I asked on the day of my medical.

Thanks man, i thought i heard psych was also like 2 years and im pretty sure mini med is only 6 months, im gonna have to re-do that.

Actually I'm pretty sure the mini med is only 3 months. That's why all the rumors were flying around about a class earlier than July, because the drug screen costs $$ and they did a lot of them right before Jan.

Well that doesn't really matter now since it would be too late. 6 months is still not long enough to last morethan 1 class which means you have to do a mini med for every class you are trying to get into.

By the way Kyle are you in the academy yet, if not, how come you didn't get in Jan?>

I'm pretty sure the psych is good for 3 years. I went through the hiring process about 3 years ago, but didn't take the job. When I reopened my case, everything had expired except my psych. I still need to retake it, but that is only because it will expire before the July academy class.

Your background never expires though, you just need to update it if anything changes? Im talking about if you never closed your case.

from my understand JST is def. 1 year. Mini needs to be done before every class. Medical i believe is 2 years, Psych i am not sure but i was told by apd in 2 different instances that it was 3 years.

Your background never expires though, you just need to update it if anything changes? Im talking about if you never closed your case.

My background investigator is having me redo all the paperwork (I'm glad I made photocopies of everything!). I assume this means she's going to redo everything.

It makes sense in your case since your case was closed and its been 3 years.

That, my friend, is the question. There was a bunch of us that got left out last class.
