Yay or Nay??? I know I posted a thread similar to this, but places like Knotts and six flags dont attract the best of crowds at times. Carry in Disneyland? Anyone do that before?

The last time I went to "The Land of the Mouse", I left my off-duty weapon in my vehicle in the mistaken belief it would be noticed when we entered the park. I was wrong and if I return in the near future, I won't leave a gun in my car again.

Knotts is actually pro LE and will allow CCW. There are also lockers available at the security office if you want to check in your weapon. They do not reccommend CCW on the roller coasters

I dont see what the problem is if your weapon is securely fastened inside your off duty holster. My holster is a pancake one snap button holster, its pretty hard to unsnap.

Don't ask don't tell at Disneyland. LEO or not, if you ask they will say no (so I have heard). Otherwise, it goes unnoticed. Carried in there a few times with no problems and no one ever finding out.

I've heard that before, too. If they find out, they make your secure it in their security office or in your car. My philosophy is it's "concealed" for a reason. ;)

I left it in a locker at the Disneyland security office once, and they gave me the key. Nice thing about letting them know I was a LEO, I got the special entrance rate.

Did you know they've found glass eyes and prosthetic legs at the bottom of Space Mountain?

I don't think there's a special Leo rate, my wife looked all over the place LOL. Carried inside today with no problem. I think prior or active duty military get the 3 day park hopper free.

I did visit a vons to buy milk off chapman and there was security dressed all tac'd out standing by the exit. I felt safe. Hahaha

Has anyone actually needed to draw their gun on someone while off-duty at Disneyland?

I asked my buddy that same question when he carried there last week. He said Goofy gives him a weird vibe so he feels better with it. I agreed with him because it is a little strange that Goofy can talk and Pluto can't. Seeing that they are both dogs and all.:)

Plus, you never know if something might go down there between the Disney characters and the Looney Tunes bunch. That's a feud that's just waiting to explode....

On this same idea would you want to carry your weapon more during the free admission for LEO's period. Im sure you people in SOCAL have gotten the notice for Disneyland and Knotts when its free to LEO's. It would seem like we can be more easily targeted during that time since you are suppose to have your badges to get the free admission. Just wondering...I carried last night. If i have my badge i have my gun.

The only theme park I was actually challenged was Universal Studios. Even though I work in the area, they drew a hard line and said, "no." I mean, they were nice about it and gave me access to a locker, but the answer was still no go. I never had problems at any other park. The only reason it became an issue at Universal was because I got wanded that day along with everyone else.

Just to enter the park or what? I've never been wanded at Universal Studios (or any theme park). As close to that as I've gotten was when Disneyland opened those "checkpoints" infront of the park entrances....I was asked to unzip my jacket and open it for them.

Never been wanded before (except going into concerts).

I took a picture with goofy today and he brushed up on my weapon, but I agree him talking and pluto not talking is weird lol

I had no problem lugging around my p2000 around downtown disney and cali adventures. I seen a few other family men that looked like LE with the fanny packs OMG......fanny pack on a clean cut guy=bacon alert LOL, I told myself id never wear a fanny pack no matter how old I get!

I think it was because it was around Halloween and they have had problems during that time.

Go figure, I worked a detail there a while later, and that time I was carrying in plainclothes UC with no problems.

Not yet, but the odds of running into someone that you have previously arrested, while you're at Disneyland with your family are good. Especially if you work in the surrounding cities. Even better odds if you hang out at parolee central, aka Downtown Disney.;)

I carry mine inside the park for several reasons:

- I don't want to leave it in the car and take a chance on having it stolen.

- If our "friends" who attacked the World Trade Center are still looking for a
target with lots of people that could get lots of publicity, Disneyland and
places like it seems like the place.

- Seems like nowadays there's always some nutjob who goes on a shooting
rampage. Why not be ready for it if he does it at a theme park.

There actually was a planned terrorist attack at a theme park. I won't go into details here, but it was averted at the last minute, but it was the real deal. Behind the scenes, everything was put into place, including the handling of mass casualties. However, the park was allowed to remain open and no one outside of law enforcement, military and feds were alerted. We came "that" close.
