Does anyone have any more information about the Centralized Student Career Experience Program?
I know that it is a 16-week (640 hour) work-study program for college students and after the 16 week and I also read this from their website At the end of the 16-week work experience, students who receive a favorable recommendation from district management, the Operational Review Panel, and complete their degree requirements may be non-competitively converted to full-time permanent DUSM positions
Which position will you be once you get converted to DUSM? 082 or 1811?
Also under FCIP I have read that Under the FCIP the USMS will place applicants within the same district or region in which they apply.
-I'm also wondering if this would fall under the CSCEP program?

I am not really sure to tell you the truth. I have applied under the SCEP Program for ICE and CBP. I am almost through the process for CBP. I have never heard of the CSCEP program.

Disclaimer: I am not a DUSM, nor have I ever been one.
I can't answer your second question (see above.) However, the USMS is, last I heard, bringing in people as 0082 and then, after a certain number of years, moving them to 1811s. I would bet a paycheck that you would come in as an 0082 and then move to 1811 like everyone else. I think it is just a foot in the door, followed by the standard career path. You may have better luck getting answers from actual DUSMs if you find a USMS thread in here and re-post this question there. Otherwise, you are waiting for a DUSM to come across this thread. Know what I mean?

Yeah just hope this thread is seen. I'm trying to get a lot of information so I can decide if the CSCEP program would benefit me, since people who are hired under FCIP will be placed on the same district they applied for.

This is known as the Co-op program. You have to be going to a partcipating school and finish your hours. Then you will be given an offer after completing the other steps. That offer could be in the district where you did your hours or you may be offered a job across the country. I have seen both.

sounds nice I probably might transfer to John Jay College and hope that I can stay in the district in NY instead of being transferred out to the other district around the west end of this country. I probably need to decrease the amount of credits I receive per semester so that I can be eligible for next year.

I wouldn't change or put off your education just for the possibility of attaining one of these positions. There would be interviews conducted and you would have to be selected among whoever your were competing against. The districts may have one slot each or several. It's really all about timing. If you wanted to guarentee staying in the area, you would be better served if they open up the FCIP program in NYC again. But it may be awhile for that too.

Is there anyone that went through the DUSM process through their school's CSCEP internship? I am very interested in the internship but I can't really find any more information about it other than the marshal website

You would come on as an 082 and wait the required time to get to 1811. Had a few in my class.

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing that it will be difficult for me since I will be placed somewhere else which sucks. I was hoping that I will be stationed in New York or at least New Jersey. I guess this is good for people who don't mind being relocated somewhere else.

Like I said before you could end up in NYC or somewhere else. I know John Jay Co-Ops and a lot of them got to stay in NY and some went elsewhere.

sounds nice, Im just hoping I would get that lucky to be chosen to stay in NY or at least be able to relocate to NJ. Probably depending on performance during the Internship they might let us stay in the same district we applied.

First order of business is that you still need to be selected in the first place. If you are selected, then it depends on many factors such as if there are openings, etc. Headquarters has the final say as to where the Co-ops go, not the district.

I have my interview for Co-op on april 27th, any tips? My law enforcement interviews I have been to have never been for two hours.....
Also, what do you think about that comment in the article posted above, that it "could take years" to get an interview by going to normal route.

Same here I never had any interviews that lasted 2 hours. I guess that the only reason it can take years to get an interview by going through FCIP because thousands of people tries to register but only few are accepted and the rest has to wait until spots are available.
