I hope I posted in the appropriate section to ask this question. I recently applied to take the written test for Correctional Deputy for the Riverside County Sheriff's; thus I will be taking a written exam followed up by a interview. I have two questions about the process mention above.

My first question is are there any available study guides for the written test? The reason I ask is I want to know what type of material is going to be covered.

The second question is what should I expect in the interview? Is it just a one on one with a Deputy of the department? Or does it consist of a panel of some sort?

There is no test prep for their test. They have switched from the standard POST test to a computer based test that asks no questions that can be studied, but at the same time have no real right or wrong answers. The only interview I know of is the one with your BI when you are assigned one down the road. Did you apply for East county?

Hey "avaand" thank you for the reply "no wrong or right answers" well that is something different :). That is correct I applied for "easy county" as they are they are only hiring for those locations. I really do not care where I work, as long as I have a stable job in which I could make a career out of; meanwhile I build upon the skills I need to become a law enforcement officer. Did you go through the same process? How do you know these things?

I took the computerized test a little over a week ago, it had two parts, a timed part and an untimed part. They said to allow 2 1/2 hours to complete the test. I agree with the other poster, there wasn't much to study for, I found the old Riverside County Sheriff recruiting site (before they switched to joinrsd.org) and used the study guide on there. What I studied for wasn't really on the test. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Hey, I thank you for your input on the matter; since my posting I have taking my test which was yesterday :). After the test I moved on to a interview which I successfully passed, I was given a appointment for my physical. I am now reading that individuals are getting disqaulifed due to "hiring freezes"? I took the test for Correctional Deputy and have only read of persons in the processing of becoming a Deputy Trainee getting DQ'd. Are individuals getting DQ'd for Correctional Deputy as well? For the same reason stated above?
