So, sorry if this question has been asked before but there seems to be a error when I try and search for a thread. I apologize in advance.

What I was wondering is:

1. Has your department implemented the use of the Pepperball System and if so which launcher and rounds do you use, which officers/units get the equipment (Patrol, Standard Issue, SWAT etc.)
2. Have you used Pepperball
3. What situations have you had to use it (Training, riot control, traffic stops etc.)
4. Would you say its more effective then other less lethal weapons including tazer, baton or regular spray
5. What flaws do you find in the system and what advantages do you find

Feel free to answer any of the questions. Im curious because I demoed the Pepperball system tonight. I work in the Private sector of Law Enforcement but Im wondering what Officers thought of using this system in the line of duty. What do we think?

1. Yes we have the pepperball gun, anyone trained on it can use it patrol/custody (whatever circumstances require it).
2.I have used the pepperball gun in a custody environment.
3. Used in quelling riots/persuading barricaded inmates to come out.
4. I would say yes, but the circumstances dictate on how effective it is.See5
5. PROS/Long range...you can do direct strike which causes pain and contamination...or area strike such as hitting the ceiling and letting the powder rain down...can affect large groups...CONS/Not as powerful as liquid spray...the powder can be carried in the wind outdoors...not too effective against moving targets.

On a side note, CS gas and the mere sight of it is more effective in most situations because of the type of effect it has on the body. Unless you can get the pepperball into the face and eye area, it will not be as effective as gas.
