If my appeal for LASD doesn't go through I am thinking of applying to Inglewood...and maybe Manhattan Beach. Any thoughts?

Trainee or pre service ?? If applying for trainee, apply anywhere and everywhere you can.
but looking at the "pacman" signature under your post and the can of copie on your profile, Manhattan Beach might not be a good fit . ;)

Any thoughts on Inglewood specifically though?

I started processing with IPD last year, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with my current employer.
I was impressed with them. The FTO program is really rough and they will expect A LOT from you as a FNG, but what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger.
The patrol guys I talked to all seemed decently content and VERY busy. It's a rough town. Just like everywhere else, it has it's pros and cons. They do not allow ride-a-longs, so just do your homework and talk to any and everyone you can, and make a decision based on what you find out.
