Greetings,

I've started to see offerings from Wolf and PVI (I think that's the name...eastern euro ammo) in 75 grain for .223. Was wondering if anyone has any experience w/ these loads. Accurate, teriminal effectiveness, cost, etc?

Thanks!

Wolf is generally low quality, in some rifles it won't function properly. I know in my Bushmaster it short strokes. Prvi Partisan (PVI?) is generally pretty good.

Both are Russian manufactured ammo. Many people don't like shooting steel bodied ammo. Mostly that's a myth, like an urban legand. Everyone knows someone who knows someone who knew someone who was shooting steel cased ammo and something went wrong. With today's metalurgy and hardening processes, the black rifle can easily digest these without any long term effects.

Wolf is generally just ok for plinking range time, not for accuracy and definately not for cleanliness. It's a dirty powder and you need to spend the time cleaning your weapon after each range session. PVI seems to be cleaner and much more accurate than Wolf. Good cheap rounds for training/practice.

Wolf and Privi are range fodder. Nothing more.

If you start talking terminal effects then you need to look at some of the other Duty ammo options.

Just me (and keep in mind I'm not a LEO), but if I bought that Prvi Partisan it would probably be to use as a stockpile or range ammo that I felt I could use in a pinch with the SHTF. It should at least be more effective than FMJ 55 or 62g rounds. I'd stay away from the Wolf in an AR.

Just as a general FYI, the CMMG warranty specifically excludes use with Wolf ammo.
