Hey all. I thought it would be fun to make a thread to see where everyone is in the process with currently? I am in the process with 5 departments.
1. LAPD
2. Monterey County S.O.
3. Richmond PD
4. South San Francisco
5. Santa Cruz S.O.

Good luck to everyone!

I am starting Kern County Sheriff academy in a few weeks.

I tested with CDC over a year ago and passed everything- then heard they weren't taking my score any longer.
Tested with Shafter PD and made it to the oral and no farther.
Tested with Kern as a correctional deputy and got the offer. I failed the physical though!
I then tested with Kern for deputy and passed everything... I sign paperwork with them on 1/17!

Turned down offer No. 1 (detentions only).
Next three agencies have hiring freezes.
Fifth agency may soon have hiring freeze (I'm scheduled for the July academy).

Starting the process over again, now in backgrounds with two agencies, trying to add two more.

I am this very moment filling out the paper work for a particular agency where a particular sgt. would like to mock me. ;)

See my signature.

Agencies are Santa Clara, San Jose, Bay Area Rapid Transit and San Mateo. There's also San Diego SO and Alameda SO, but the mandatory jail time irks me a bit.

Well if Richmond picks you up, keep me posted. They sometimes use the same academy as BART, where I'm applying. We may end up classmates.

Fairly fresh into the whole process!

I passed the Written, PAT, QAP, CVSAT and am waiting for the rest with the CHP.

I applied to the Kern County SO. Made it to Backgrounds but had to stop due to military commitment.

I made it all the way through the Border Patrol process, still waiting for my enlistment to be up.

And I will also be testing for Coronado PD this month.

Stay safe.

Rialto was testing pretty regulary last quarter and an FPD guy, not from recruitment, said they would probably test this month or Feburary.
Colton HR told me they probably wouldn't even start looking until august this year. If you hear anything from Rialto or Fontucky please PM me and I will recriprocate. Best of luck to you Lah-dog

Below are my agencies that I am making progress with. In the meantime, I am going back to school and taking 6 units of Criminal Justice Classes at GWC this semester. I really want to become a Deputy more than anything in the Inland Empire, but I will just have keep trying and in the meantime try to add to my resume.

Rialto PD-Didn't make it pass the Oral

San Berdoo Sheriff's Office-DQ'd in December after turned in packet in October, received letter to retest in Dec '09.

Riverside Sheriff's Office-Turned in BG Packet 12/31.

San Diego Sheriff's Office-Received notice to meet for a BI orientation this month for Deputy and Detentions.

Border Patrol-In Background, waiting for next step.

Santa Ana-Take the PAT on 1/31(But I read that the city is on a city-wide hiring freeze)

QAP is a job interview for the most part. Be ready to discuss anything form your past to your future.

I will retire in 5 months from the military, so i'm hoping the process falls into place for a post military career. I would realyy enjoy a career in law enforcement, but got my Masters degree just in case last year. You just never know. Stay safe.

I just talked to my BI and she told me they only had 25 people in the January academy and not even sure if there will be an April one. But she wants me to bring in my sealed transcripts and some course work I did in an AOJ class and show her Sergeant, I am just hoping that Sergeant is my girlfriends uncle...

I added another agency to my sig yesterday. I'm hoping to add one more agency after this Saturday and that is IT. With four new agencies (along with my four older ones now in hiring freezes -- No. 1 is essentially in a hiring freeze, it's just not official), hopefully one of these will happen. I really like all of my agencies, and I've just gotta believe. :)

Is it safe to assume agency #1 is RSO?

There are plenty of agencies that are in the same situation as RSO. You know what they say about assumption, it makes an as* out of u and me...

Definitely not safe. It's NOT RSO. But since I've only heard from department insiders and not officially from my BI, I'm not gonna put it out there yet until I have confirmation.
