please dont post cops names

The officers name was made public in numerous newspapers and on numerous websites. Its not like his name is being published for the first time.

Theres no need to keep publishing his name on a police forum. Underneath your screename it says future PO, I would hope you don't try and sell out fellow officers because I'll tell you this, your life will be miserable with no friends and no backup. No one likes RATS

I would never rat out a fellow officer. But I consider ratting where someone posts an officers name for the first time. Not simply saying his name again after its been made public in newspapers, on websites, and on news shows.

So basically as long as someone else says it then you can say it too? God I hope you never become a PO in my precinct....

So what your basically saying is if a cops name is published in newspapers, said on news programs, and posted on websites, and I simply say it on a forum, I'm considered a rat? As far as working at your precinct as a PO, I bet there are great cops there to work with, so I guess as long as I don't work with you, everything will be fine.

Proper etiquette on a police message board is we dont post each others names.

i think the cop whose name was mentioned in this thread has A LOT bigger things to worry about than his name being posted on a message board

Think whatever you want, re-read the post above yours.

unless that guy is registered and posts on here..

i don't believe "each others names" meaning people on this forum would apply for him really

Frank,

Please delete this thread.

It serves no purpose on a law enforcement forum.

Norwich has enough problems without starting problems as well.

Thank you.

Listen, you can believe whatever want. Im just informing you of the way things are. Do people sometimes post names? yes. Is it proper? not really. Can someone get his name somewhere else? sure, but let it be from somewhere else. When and if you ever get on the job, whatever job it may be, you will recieve suggestions and you will recieve orders. Suggestions will come from other cops and orders will come from bosses. There is certain suggestions you follow so not to upset your fellow cops. You can argue those suggestions all you want but its not going to get you anything but disliked by your peers.

The subject here is really not that big of a deal, do what you want, but I suggest you start to take suggestions, thats all.

valid points, not arguing any of that

but when on an internet forum where most people don't know each other personally, for instance you and i, suggestions are a dime a dozen

and with all due respect, what i do, where i work or how well i can take orders/suggestions aren't really significant toward this thread..

withholding fellow officers names seems fair no argument there, but when on an internet forum discussing a pair of, what seems to be, senseless officers.. its an exception to the "rule", IMO.

So let's see...

Someone comes here and asks if there are any updates on a case that was posted on the FRONT PAGE of THIS website, and there are people saying it's inappropriate to use a cop's name - at all?

People ask (on this site) about updates on widely publicized cases all the time. They don't get nearly as much crap as the OP has received. Why do you guys have such a hard-on for this particular case? Or perhaps it's the OP?

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over?
